some monarchs (and margaret thatcher, famously) used to refer to themselves as "we" to infer their honorific status. though it is quite old-fashioned some still do.

So my question now... Is it the correct translation to what the Quran actually says in arabic?

Mr.humble, right now you're assuming that

we = one person/identity

Is that equation/assumption itself correct?

There's an ayat that says it's not right to claim credit from what you did not do. ..and many verses that say to tell the truth... So, if the message is sent down by many, then the acknowledgment of those involved is appropriate. I'm saying, "we" must be representing more than one identity/person.

The verb is used in first peishrson plural, therefore, yes, it would be "We".

To the general question, there is indeed the use of the majestic plural. Also one explanation I have read, is that all along the Quran God speaks of Itself in different persons as maner of erasing the personal, anthropic image form our minds. God is different from anything we may imagine, and tehrefore to assign to him a person may be restricting our ability to "disimagine" him. That is what I read for whatever it is worth.

Not at all. God knows what we do not know... and this may be one of the things we just don't know.

I just wanted to know if "We" was the correct translation.
