Is Music Forbidden?

I'm sorry if I'm re-hashing an old topic that's already been addressed. I am still very new to this board. Is music really forbidden in Islam? Is certain music forbidden? Like I've done lots of research on certain effects of music on the brain, and I know that real angry or heavy music can't be good for our mental state. How about other music though?
Also I studied recently how in old video games some of the music caused seizures and such in children because of the bi-lunal tones they used in the old midi tracks. This was before mp3 and instrumental music was used in newer games.
I am just wanting thoughts.

Ah I read through some of your link, and the surahs that say music shouldn't be overly loud, maybe that was a warning about the very thing I mentioned. The bi-lunal tones that induced seizures in children were very high pitched. The child hearing can hear the pitches and it can have adverse effects on the brain. Just thought I'd draw a connection between what science can tell us about music and what the Koran says.

I'm a non-Muslim myself, but I wasn't always. I'm here to gain different insights into Islam besides the Sunni version that in part drove me away eventually. Maybe I was hasty.

The Qur'an is clear on MOST things, but to me it is still less conclusive on points than it should be (considering it is the only source of law). The things I have trouble with are very minor, but the slightest is an excuse for Sunnis to fear using their own brain.
E.g. in 20130, it says glorify at dawn, before sunset, night, and parts (plural 3+) of the day. I am not entirely sure what it means by "parts" there.
In that FFI brawl, I accepted "strike" in 434.

Where is music forbidden in Quran??
Music is just like anything else; you have to make a judgement call about what you listen to lyrically and why you are drawn to that particular thing. Ask yourself how and why you connect and relate to any particular song and if that repetitive mantra of listening/singing it is good for your soul.

Music is not forbidden and I really don't like how the traditionalists use that hadith about musical instruments to make it haram.
The Quran makes no mention of music. It's simply another art form and we are allowed to enjoy it.
It's just like how the Sunnis forbid drawing and sculpting or anything that is fun more or less. All hadith based and is not forbidden in the Quran.
