Do you ever reach conclusions?
-
I have seen many great discussions in the backlogs of this forum (Masjid - physical place vs acknowledgement, 2238-239 - "middle prayer" vs marriage/divorce commands, etc.), almost any search term I put in comes up with various interesting viewpoints. Do you all ever finally say "OK, this is a logically sound interpretation and nobody that is challenging it can sensibly refute it, so let's start implementing and evangelizing it!" ? From what I can tell these "best" ideas just end up lost in the archives, and some months later people are posting interpretations of verses without even knowing about the amazing ones before it... it makes me wonder if they are as logically sound as I think they are? Maybe they got proved wrong later and I just didn't see that thread? I might never know! It seems like, in order to gain ground here, we'd need to build on each other's work. Otherwise it's like running on a treadmill, do you understand my analogy?

To add to what you have brought up,
Free-minds's search engine is not that great anymore...
Great thread are lost, and harder to find as many posts come up.Something has to be done, perhaps categorizing the posts, or add links to key words.. i don't know.

Peace,
some of us reach conclusions, but not usually the same ones. I believe this is a good thing.
But it is true, for newcomer it can be hard to fetch the reasonings in very old and long threads.
Those who wished to, have elaborated their own articles on why they reached this or that viewpoint. They usually are published on the main-site.

Salaam
I would say it's really sad that we have some very intelligent people on this forum who, not only have indepth knowledge of the languages, but like to contemplate and discuss, yet the problems start when (I think) one has done a lot of research and has arrived at a meaning which he/she believe's to be correct, and someone questions it, then it becomes a matter of ego. elektro
I see one brilliant mind after another here and imagine all talented together jedi, but they will not cease to differ and thus we would never reach a conclusion. '(

peace rsw,
Good question and you raise an important observation on forum content.
Personally, if I reach a conclusion, it does not mean it is final, it means it is the best conclusion I have thus far. Learning and Knowldge, like life, is a fluid, constantly moving process.
Secondly, and I cant stress this enough, I strongly recommend using the search function. Often, the same questions are asked again and they have been discussed in significant detail before.
