Has this happened to you?

So I was over at Islamic Board dot com the other day and a recent revert had posted a question and part of it pertained to the fact that her family had a pet dog and she was worried about the dog being around.
I posted the usual welcome to Islam bit and then added she didn't need to worry about the dog because there was nothing in the Quran about dogs not being allowed in Islam and said there are verses that mention dogs. Then I said most Muslims who dislike dogs, dislike them for cultural rather than religious reasons.
Pretty harmless right? Guess not... I got an email from a moderator of the forum saying that they deleted my post because what I said wasn't true.
Sorry but WTF? Needless to say I am feeling a little irritated. I know in the main scheme of things its not really a big deal but I was still a little mad about it. I think what made me the mad most was the fact that I had been censored and that I what I said was not valid according to their narrow viewpoint. I honestly did not realize how close minded this forum was. Has anyone else had issues with this forum before?

Shalom Aleikhem,
Well, if not all, most traditionalist discussion forums are not discussion forums. They are indoctrination forums. If you are a sheep looking for a shepherd, thats the kind of place you go to. Instead of censoring your comment, what they can do instead is quote you and refute your argument. However, most do not follow that procedure.
If they did not ban you for that, you got lucky. Its a routine thing for me to get banned here and there for sharing my views. Their zero tolerance of questioning, criticism and difference in opinion/views speaks an awful lot about their insecurity and self-realization that under trial...they would fail !!
Peace
----------- Student of Allah -
I would agree with student of Allah. Moreover its important to keep in mind, that most sectarian forums are lead by close minded sectarians who carry a sort of 'tribal mentality' which means that differing on issues which are crucial to them, like a dog being NAJIS, is being seen as treason if coming from a muslim and kufr if coming from a non-muslim. The tribal mentality doesnt allow questioning their rules either but requires blind adherence from its followers, all you can do is coming up with your own opinion on issues which they havent any consensus about or which arent of any importance for them like which football team you like, or whether or not you like to drink coffee after the prayer.
I was once in a sunni forum where i was routinely called 'kafir' and 'murdad' and 'western propaganda machine' and 'prophet muhammad hater' and things like that. After all, if a sunni fails to prove you wrong, all he can do is attacking you personally.
This is perhaps one of the major differences between quranist muslims and sectarians. Most quranist muslims dont see any problem with questioning or disagreements, since it was the same method which made them realize the flaws of the sectarians and since quranist muslims dont have any dogmas to be followed.
But hey, some dogs are really cute. We have a proverb in sweden claiming that the dog is mans best friend group
So peace guys and keep up loving your pets peace

Not only on 'internet forum', I'm full with those issues on 'real life forum'!.. rotfl rotfl
Interestingly.. they call me "A Jew" because of it...
Little did they now that the (traditionalist) jew hates dog as much or even much more than they are..
After all the 'holy tradition' of 'hating dogs' descended from 'prophet ruling' as narrated by "Abu Hurayrah"..
Arabic for "Father of the kittens"... which most probably a Jew himself..Salam / Peace

I agree with the comments made here. I have ha dmy share of being banned and posts deleted and such. I lost cout of how many times I got banned. Sunnis and Shias are not able to debate themselves. They rely on their authority already established. Like a sand castle their doctrines are very fragile. The moderators in thsese forums know that the Koranist persuasion is more attractive to people so they fear its message.
Freedom is something these Sects do not have. As said here they will fail when tested.

The prohibition of Dogs unless they're hunting dogs, and angels not coming to your house would be against logic of the Quran allowing to have dogs, and TEACHING them to hunt (i.e have dogs before teaching them)
- the Angels of death come and take your soul away, whether or not your have a dog in your house
*the story of the people of the cave with the dog in their cave (home)....
*there is no direct prohibitions of dogs in the Quran
- the Angels of death come and take your soul away, whether or not your have a dog in your house

I have a dog myself and I find nothing wrong with it. I feel quite insulted if someone tells me it's 'haram' to have a dog... let alone stroking it or caring for it. I couldn't leave my dog outside... he's so family-like he cries even if we leave the house! (and steals for that matter ?_?) but don't worry... sometimes you get this kinda rubbish. I mean look how adorable my dog is!!!
