Using both the Solar and Lunar Calendar
-
So I stumbled upon verse 936-37 which talked about not adding additions to a calander
"The count of the months with God is twelve months in the book of God the day He created the heavens and the earth; four of them are restricted. This is the correct system; so do not wrong yourselves in them; and fight the polytheists collectively as they fight you collectively. And know that God is with the righteous. Know that the use of the additional month causes an increase in rejection, for it is used by those who have rejected that they may misguide with it by making it lawful one year, and forbidden one year, so as to circumvent the count of what God has made restricted; thus they make lawful what God has made forbidden. Their evil works have been adorned for them, andGod does not guide the rejecting people. "(936-37)
So being the west I naturally use the gregorian solar calander for all my days actions and such and the lunar calander for religious duties and stuff.
What bothers me about these verses is how it states we can't have additions to the calander. It may say additions in months but the word month wasn't there in arabic and simply stated adding anything to a calander.
The solar calander has more days than the lunar one thus an addition. But does that mean using the solar calander is not allowed? I understand that not adding to the lunar calander as it distrupts the flow of events such as sawm and thus I use both calanders by that logic.
Therefore is it okay to use both calanders even though one has clear additions to it already? Its not like i'm adding more to the lunar calander and quite frankly can't live without the solar considering where I live.
What does everyone think?
