    Hello,

so 7180 hit me with a surprise as seen here

"And to God belong the beautiful names, so call Him by them; and ignore those who blaspheme in His names. They will be punished for what they used to do." (7180)

The part that states blaspheme translates to distort or deviate as stated on Corpus Quran as the Arabic goes just to state the fact first.

Anyways so the part that states "and ignore those who blaspheme in His names" has me rather confused. First what constitues as blaspheme of His names?

Some i've heard include taking those names, giving them a slight alteration and putting them for new idols, another is not accepting or believing those terms.

The problem I have here is that does this only designate to believers or to everyone? because some non-believer type monotheists consider God to be fallible, and some people consider him to be an image/idol. I find it odd that we wouldn't be able to interact with them cause of their beliefs there, especially since we can marry monotheists anyways.

I probably am misreading it or misunderstanding it or whatever but can someone explain it better to me?

    Thanks,

PS. Many traditionalists also don't like us using the English word God and say we should use Allah and bring up such a verse to try to backup their claim, which i'd also like to hear opinions on this. Thanks again )

      Salaam brother AW,

Interesting, I tried to write down on the names of Allah but couldn't do it.

First of all you have to understand what are the names of Allah? As you said some may say not to use God instead of Allah, we must understand that Allah is not a name so no need to worry about blaspheme or distorting or deviating of His name. Allah simply means The God.

To understand something about this subject please check for link below

        Peace brother mmkhan,

Okay I understand that, but then what does it means to distort/deviate/blaspheme and what it actually means when stating for us to ignore.

And what is everyone elses opinions too?
