How do you pray?

I forgot to give the alternative. When I studied some timing verses, the errors/contradictions were only resolved by taking them as idiomatic expressions to mean "all the time" / "throughout the day" etc. Just something to consider if investigating the timings of the non-salat specific verses.

The Qur'aanic night starts after sunset, so after sunset = during night.
You are separating "after sunset" and "during night", whereas they are the same thing.

I pray Fajr and Eshaan as mentioned in 2458
Only stands while praying and ends with Sajda as mentioned in 4102
I don't read/recite AlQuraan in Salaat but I do recite only those aayaats that praise Allah and I do remember Allah as mentioned in 2014

I wash up or bath before I salat.

If im not alone and i call someone else to salat with me, I would have them sit down and give them a small speech/teaching, and then I tell them " call upon God or call upon the merciful, whatever u call upon then the best names are for Him." Then position them were thay should stand, ect...

I face the focal point and say " all praises to God who did not take a son, nor does He have a partner in soverinty, nor does He have ally out of weakness," at least thrice normally.

Then I get on my kneez and pray to God.

Then I go into prostration and glorify God further.

Then I get back on my kneez and supplicate further.

Then I stand to read/recite a chapter or two or a few verces from quran. Before I read quran I ask the Lord to admit me an entrance of truth and let me exit a exit of truth ,ect... then I seek refuge with God from Satan the outcast, then I open the quran and read.

I usually end the reading with praises to God and sometimes a short prayer to end the connection,ectt....If salating with someone, I may see if they want to contribute anything to the community chest...then I also focus on giving a charity as soon as possible. ( i might read before the prayer sometimes.)

I say " Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us our sins and spare us the retribution of the fire. My Lord, forgive and have mercy; and You are the Most Merciful. My Lord, forgive me and my parents, and the believeing men and women; and do not increase the wicked except in destruction..." pr

I pray(dua) anyway I want to...God is closer than the jugular vein and hears the call of Its devoted servants.
However, if the real question is how do I perform salaat (not prayer/dua), then the answer is that at dawn and dusk, I get myself into the meditative state , which is the state between awake and sleep where the subconcious(nafs) is MOST receptive, and I use my God given faculties of thought and imagination to see my person ignoring my wrong habits and doing what is right, over and over and over again until it becomes habit.
For God has said about the subconcious(nafs)...."He who purifies it succeeds and he who corrupts it fails"
The subconciuos is like a garden, it will bring forth weeds if you dont plant and tend to your own seeds. That is why God says "woe to those who salaat, but are HEEDLESS of thier salaat".
This means that wether you take control of the process or not, you are being programmed by SOMEONE...perhaps your enemy who knows the turth about human behavior and how to effect it. >

I will admitt that lately I haven't done salaat, but I have remembered God (dhikr) and read some Quran.
When I do salaat I use to standing reciting Al-Fatiha and then finish sit down and thank God and also some do'as made of myself.

Good answer Wakas. I can't disagree with that. That is the truth of it all.
But Anna be prepared to feel like this forum is for the wretched and full of kuffar who call themselves believers, and that if this is the face of progressive islam that there is no hope for the Muslims, after some of your encounters here. Be prepared for those who don't agree with the way you see it on this forum to be ready for a smack down if you don't understand the way they do it and challenge them for answers. I don't think this smack-down method is very healthy for conversation but it is the free-minds way. So be ready for some long (many times pointless) debates from those who may not see your point (or want to see it) or from those who will unapologetically assume all they can about you (sometimes being right and sometimes dead wrong) but still want to argue with you about it. I realize I could end up being one of those people in theory, but i do my best not to be that way when I engage others on this forum (of course others may have differing opinions I can only tell you from my persepctive). And in the end it will all come down to you and those freinds and family who you happen to come accross that can agree with you on the key issues that you find important. This is computer talk and will most likely stay just that. I know that might be somewhat of a negative introduction, but I'm just keeping it real. I still do wish you the best here on your journey for truth.

I think this salat issue is one of the challanges for the quran only followers, and the most used by sunni to debate with...God says thet everything is fully detailed in his book ...so every thing is fully detailed including salat...i have read many articles concerning salat in this forum and in another arabic forum and try to pick up what convince my mind...God order us to listen to the saying and to follow the best...i have tried many form for salat...but this is the one i do right now...not saying it is the right way but it is as far as i understand for now.
I pray three times a day
just before sun rise (which unfortuntey i sometimes missed -[)
just before sunset
and at night.I do ablution as in vesre 56
i stand facing any spot
i read verses from the quran
then i prostrate saying "Praise be to our Lord. Truly, the promise of our Lord was fulfilled.?
and "Praise be to God who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have an ally out of weakness.?
then i stand up again read more verses and prostrate.
then i stand glorify God and and says Dooas espcially that written in the book. and end praising him looking forward to hear ur comments. sunPeace

This is how I pray, in detail
No of contact prayers = 7 = 3 compulsory prayers + 4 additional ones (7 is my lucky number). No of rakats = 19.
Timings,
Tahajud, before Fajr = 1 rakat.
Fajr = 2 rakats.
After Fajr = 1 rakat.
Wusl = 4 rakats.
After Wusl = 4 rakats.
Isha = 3 Rakats.
After Isha = 4 rakats.
I don't always follow this pattern, I miss out the additional prayers at times, such as Tahajjud and the one after Isha.
My physical movements are currently a combination of Sunni/Shi'a methods, minus associating the prophet with Allah (swt). I also do not add the Egyptian pagan God's name (Amun/Amen/Ameen) after al-Fatihah or my duas.
