Punishment in hereafter for not performing salaat
-
peace t,
This clearly shows that those who did not perform salaat might incur punishment in the life hereafter.
Therefore, it follows that salat is obligatory upon muslims/momins, contrary to what a lot of people who post in this forum think and preach.
Can you clarify how your 1st statement leads to your 2nd statement based on what you presented.
Thanks.

Peace Wakas,
I thought it was self explanatory.
One of the reasons they found themselves in saqar is because they were not among "musalleen". It follows that "being musalleen" is compulsory.
Also, according to this passage, one of the qualities of "mujrimeen"/criminals is not being among "musalleen".

Peace everyone,
I came across the following while reading al-quran
7441 About the criminals.
7442 ?What has caused you to be in the scorching heat??
7443 They said ?We were not of those who connected (musalleen).?
7444 ?And we did not feed the poor person.?
7445 ?And we used to participate with those who spoke falsehood.?
7446 ?And we used to deny the Day of Judgment.?
7447 ?Until the certainty came to us.?This clearly shows that those who did not perform salaat might incur punishment in the life hereafter. Therefore, it follows that salat is obligatory upon muslims/momins, contrary to what a lot of people who post in this forum think and preach.
Comments please.
Yes, the observeance of salat is obligatory upon all submitters. And neglecting it is apostasy from Submission.
Not salating will be the cause of the criminals to be in the scorching heat. 7443
So do not obey them, prostrate and come near... peace

There is also consequences in this life for the one who neglect salat. They will be made into a lier and one who errs. See below
969 Have you seen the one who deters,
9610 A servant from communing?
9611 Have you seen if he was being guided,
9612 Or he ordered righteousness?
9613 Have you seen if he lied and turned away?
9614 Did he not know that God can see?
9615 Alas, if he does not cease, We will strike the frontal lobe.
9616 A frontal lobe which lies and errs.
9617 So let him call on his supporter.
9618 We will call on the guardians.
9619 So do not obey him, prostrate and come near. -
Peace be upon you,
Yes, this is one of the verses I use all the time in my argument. The NUMBER ONE reason for being in "the fire" is not maintaing salaat.
However, this verse does not tell us what salaat is, so to read this verse and assume it is saying "the reason we are in fire is because we did not bow down on the ground and do 2,4,4,3,4 rakaats, and turn to the left and say this and to the right and say this" is extremely far fetched.
My position, which agrees with all verses where salaat is used, is that salaat is "programming/conditioning" the mind/subconcious/nafs. The Nafs is the most important piece to this system. FIrst we must realize we have a "nafs" that is seperte from "us", then we must realize that we are responsible for it "those who purify it succeed, those who corrupt it fail".
Salaat is the process of reprogramming the corruption into the purified. This is done by learning how to get into the meditative state, that is, that MIDDLE(wusta) state where conciousness meets subconcious, or the metaphor states, where day merges with night.....sound familiar (dawn and dusk)?
Yes, that means that all those criminals who get on the ground and scar thier foreheads up but still deal drugs, bomb humans, cheat on thier spouses, hoard goods, distort God's words, etc will not be saved from "the fire"....thier "salaat" is for show, nothing but whistles and clapping. It is only programming of the nafs (salaat) that will save you from "the fire"...it is only REAL MENTAL CHANGE, not baseless body movements that will make the difference.
So yes, prostrate(your mind) and draw near.

Do you have proof that those who deal drugs will go to Hell? And yes, fall prostrate on your chin. Why? Because when the Almighty says to a thing " Be" then it is. So He said prostrate to Him. Simple as that. Prostrate your whole self to Him. And He is the Evedint and the Innermost. And those who are too arrogant to serve Him will not be saved from the Fire.
There are two typse of prostration
- Physical/ method/ect//
- emotional/within/ results
The phycical prostration is done by lying flat on the ground in submission or adoration.
The emotional prostration could be done by simply saying " We hear and obey."
I always delegate results instead of methods ( body movements ,ect...), as you do...
But just because you say prostrate ( your mind), others may look at prostrate differntly. Some may see it as mentally prostrating, and some may see it as to physically prostrate, and some like me, see it as completly prostrate my mind, body, and soul.
I agree wit the program. It is a daily program to renew self in 4 areas in order to maintain balance
- We renew/reprogram our mental daily threw the reading of the Word and our studys. This is what keeps our mental sharp.
- We renew our spiritual dimentions daily threw prayer, value clarification, meditaion on the word, ect...( our spiritual dimention is what provides leadership in our life)
- We renew our selves socially and emotionally when we make contributions and in our daily interactions with other people.
- And we renew our selves physiclly daily by fasting, kneeling, prostration postures, and fighting in the cause of God ect ( excersise, diet, rest )... ( to my understanding )
But to use the word program in place of "salat" is confusion. Even thoe many of the word mean the same thing.
peace

Peace be upon you,
I am not here to force you not to physically prostrate...if it helps you to change your behavior, then by all means continue. I do not require that anymore.
If salat is programming, then no need to speak in Arabic anymore...progamming is much more clearer to an English speaker/thinker. The message must be given in the language of the student, we are all speaking english on this forum.

Peace be upon you,
And neither am I here to force anyone down into prostration nor you to not mentally prostrate... And I prostrate with the hope of coming closer to God and seeking a blessing and approval from Him. And the way I see it, to prostrate to God is a major change in ones behavior. Because many are to arrogant to even bow down to something that is greater than their self.
And I agree about the language thing. It is important to speak the language of the people, everyone dont know Arabic. But what I am saying is were did you get the word " programming" from. Bring your proof that salat = programming.
To me salat = prayers ( the daily prayers )
However, I also understand it to mean connection and I am learning why I shouldnt use "prayer" as the meaning of salat.
But I believe salat = connection, prayer, suplication,ect...

Peace everyone,
I agree with Anthony that the timed salat of muslims is a way of connecting with God. The programming of the nafs is a result of that connection. For example, salat (done the right way) prohibits lewdness and vice (2945). Salat is the connection and prohibition of lewdness and vice is the programming of the nafs (the result).
It is undisputable from quranic evidence that the timed salat of muslims has both mental and physical components. Reading/reciting al-quran with understanding is physical as well as mental. Glorifying, praising and remembering God is both physical and mental. Falling to the chin in sujud is both physical and mental.
4102 mentions "when they have prostrated"; this clearly implies a physical act. The second group performed salat only after the first group had prostrated. If prostration is only mental obedience and means obeying God's commands only, then how did the first group obey God's commands recited to them by the leader in the short time before the second group started their salat? For example, the leader recited from al-quran to the first group "feed the poor and give charity". Does it mean that the first group immediately got up and fed the poor and gave charity before the second group started their salat in a time of war? Of course they did some kind of physical act which signified obedience to God in a symbolic manner, and then later on when they got a chance they fed the poor and gave charity thus demonstrating their mental obedience.
I agree that the mental component of salaat is much more important than the physical component, but we cannot force our own personal bias/pre-conceptions/prejudices onto God's words and start preaching to everyone that there is no physical component of salaat at all.

Saqar also means a battle during war, to struggle hard, to be in the heat of battle. Sala has many meanings within the Qur' an.

Do you have any proof that those who deal drugs will not be saved from the fire? My Lord has made trade lawful, and He has forbidden usury. And do not say that this is lawful and that is forbidden, that you seek to invent lies about God.
-
And do you have proof that their salat is nothing but whistles and clapping ( those who get on the ground to the Almighty- )? Whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day will have their rewards with their Lord, with no fear over them, nor will they grieve. They are seeking a blessing from their Lord and aproval.
-
And how will it be when they are called to prostrate, but they will be unable to? And humiliation will cover them. They were called to do so while they were whole and able.
So be paitient to the judgment of your Lord, and be of those who prostrate.
-
-
And their shadows also prostrate from the right and the left, even thoe they resent it.
-
And God wont show those who have disease in their hearts to you so that you can recognize them by their looks ( physical ), But you can recognize them by their speech. What comes out of their mouth is what is in their hearts.

peace t,
One of the reasons they found themselves in saqar is because they were not among "musalleen". It follows that "being musalleen" is compulsory.
I think "compulsory" is the wrong word to use, it just doesn't sound right. It is like saying being "righteous" or "charitable" is compulsory. Being "musalleen" (my rendition ones who go/turn towards in a close/positive manner) helps one avoid "saqar".
4102 mentions "when they have prostrated"; this clearly implies a physical act.
4102 mentions "when they have sjd" which has several possibilities. It's primary meaning is to acknowledge / give recognition (positively), which can take various forms.
The second group performed salat only after the first group had prostrated. If prostration is only mental obedience and means obeying God's commands only, then how did the first group obey God's commands recited to them by the leader in the short time before the second group started their salat? Your above example would hold weight if all content in al quran was instructional and required doing of a physical act, e.g. feeding the poor. However, its content is not all like that, and we dont know what was said.

Peace.
If salat means the ritual sets then, according to this logic proposed by the starting post, wouldn't this contradict with 262 ? Or would you say they do 2,4,4,3,4 everyday too?
For me, such punishment is if you violate your salat/bond to the moral laws (that is, doing evil), for example like violating the laws in 1722 - 39 and many other verses across the Quran. There are also many other specific bonds to specific peple - like delivering the message is the bond/salat of the messenger, etc - that are not to us, so make sure you see which verse is talking to whom to get a more clear understanding of salat/bond to God.
Peace.
-
I believe that one should salat to God alone and not to other people.
And the salat of the messenger is to God also.
-
Also the salat is were we go for cleansing. The salat is were we go especially if we have violated the moral laws. ect...
So how does one violat salat then? Il tell you how. People violate salat by being neglectful of it, and also by attending the salat lazy, and also by approaching the salat intoxicated, by salating for the rejecters who have died, by showing off with it, by over awing and hiding with it...
-
Peace be upon you,
"Woe to those who salaat but are heedless/unaware of thier salaat"
How can one bow down on the ground but be unaware that they are bowing down on the ground? Does that make sense to anyone?
However, the human mind/subconcious is ALWAYS being programmed and most people are unaware of this.
-
My salat, my rites, my life, and my death, are all to God, the Lord of the worlds. He has no partner, and it is to this that I was commanded, and I am the first of those who have submitted.
