Asalamualaikum to all brothers and sisters.
I would like to know if it is permissible to ask allah something in the name of or for the sake of someone special or dignified in the presence of allah.

For example Allah please pass me in my exams for the sake of your prophet Muhammad (SAW) or allah please cure some illness for the sake of some respected muslim saint.

    Please let me know. Thanks

      Wa Alaikum As Salaam brother,

392 We have sent down to you the Scripture with truth, so serve God while devoting the system to Him.
393 Absolutely, to God is the true system. And those who set up allies besides Him ?We only serve them so that they may bring us closer to God.? God will judge between them in what they dispute. Surely, God does not guide him who is a liar, a rejecter.

1653 And any blessings that are with you are from God. Then, when harm afflicts you, to Him you cry out.
1654 Then, when He removes the harm from you, a group of you set up partners with their Lord!
1655 So they reject what We have given them. Enjoy, for you will come to know.
1656 And they allocate a portion from what We provide to them to that which they did not have knowledge of. By God, you will be asked about the lies you have invented!

1022 He is the One who carries you on land and on the sea. And when you are on the ships and We drive them with a good wind which they rejoice with, a strong gust comes to it and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think that they are finished, they implore God with loyalty and devotion to His system ?If You save us from this, we will be of the thankful.?
1023 But when He saves them, they then transgress with injustice through the land. ?O mankind, what you seek out is only the luxury of this worldly life, then to Us is your return and We will inform you of all that you had done.?

We have no allies other than God.

Nor would he instruct you to take angels and prophets for Lords and patrons. What! would he bid you to unbelief after you have bowed your will?

There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge. if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces. they lose both this world and the Hereafter. that is loss for all to see!

They call on such deities, besides Allah, as can neither hurt nor profit them. that is straying far indeed (from the Way)!

And your Lord says. "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer). but THOSE WHO ARE TOO ARROGANT to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell - in humiliation!"

He is the Living (One). There is no god but He. Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

Say. "I have been forbidden to invoke those whom you invoke besides Allah,- seeing that the Clear Signs have come to me from my Lord; and I have been commanded to bow (in Islam) to the Lord of the Worlds."

When My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the Prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me. Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me. That they may walk in the right way.

O you who believe! give your response to Allah and His Messenger, when He calleth you to that which will give you life; and know that Allah cometh in between a man and his heart, and that it is He to Whom you shall (all) be gathered.

WASEELA like this is definitely haraam because the dead cannot benefit you at all... Only Allah is All-Hearer and The Eternal...

So even if the person that you want to be a middle man was a prophet or saint or whatever... Since they are dead... The above verse apply to all of them...

"Verily you cannot make the dead hear and you can not make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs and retreat."

"The living and the dead are not alike. Allah makes whoever he wishes hear, but you cannot make those in the graves hear."

This verse hopefully settle the matter about the dead and their inability to hear or do whatsoever for your own benefit...

            Peace

              Peace Zahra

Allah please pass me in my exams for the sake of your prophet Muhammad (SAW) or allah please cure some illness for the sake of some respected muslim saint.

I do not understand how passing your exam would benefit Muhammad, or how curing an illness would benefit some saint. The quran says that our burdens are our own . Each person has accumulated his or her deeds for their benefit or degredation during their lifetimes.

              Joe
