Does it say ''do not smoke during ramadan' in the quran...no....so smoke your cigarettes and be happy ;D sun

Does that mean according to your reasoning if it does not say in The Quran "do not inject heroin during ramadan" we can inject heroin and be happy?

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Greetings and peace be with you,

Nicotine is the natural poison which the tobacco plant contains to defend itself from insects. A single drop of extracted nicotine is many times more dangerous than cyanide (contrary to popular myths, cyanide takes approximately 10 minutes to kill a person), while a drop of nicotine results in an instant death. A nicotine overdose is possible, by using a few nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and smoking all together at the same time. I'm a former smoker. When I first started smoking, all my muscles were affected, I was unable to get up from my bed for around 20 minutes. Does that not prove something? That's a near-overdose, nicotine has opiate as well as stimulant properties. When taken in small doses, it is a stimulant, when taken in large doses, it is like an opiate. After the muscles are effected, if more nicotine is taken in, it results in death.

Is not the purpose of fasting to clean your body of all toxins? Is not nicotine a toxin? So what's the point of fasting then?

Nicotine, THC, LSD, Alcohol, I've tried all these four drugs. LSD permanently affected my brain (never-ending flashbacks, similar to hallucinogen persisting perception disorder, but not quite...and my flashbacks are evil), Alcohol nearly resulted in my death, Cannabis assisted in making my flashbacks more powerful, and nicotine permanently affected my complexion.

For the record, I'm a big supporter of medical cannabis and medical use of alcohol. Hallucinogens - I recommend you stay away from them if you have anyone in your family with a mental or neurobiological disorder, approximately 1.4% of people who consume a hallucinogen get Hallucinogen Persisting Perception disorder, 25% get flashbacks.

      Peace.

Nope thats not what i mean't...i was being sarcastic . I'm not saying that smoking is good for you, quite the opposite and should be avoided for health reasons...my point was..quran says avoid what is harmful for your body....but i haven't read anywhere which says...do not smoke or do not take heroin. Obviously, taking drugs will damage your body...so avoid it. God leaves us to use our own brains to decide..gives us advice on what the right options are and leaves it to us.

          peace be upon you,

we abstain from eating and drinking during ramadhan.

the definition of eating is to feed your body with NUTRITION
in tobacco, there is a small amount of nutrition.

            peace Jasmin,

I guess I did not pick up on the "sarcasm".

The word "sawm" does not simply mean "fast", in terms of food/drink only. If it did mean this, then there would be no reason to mention sex, which The Quran does. Thus, to answer the question of whether it is ok to smoke or not during abstinence, we must better understand the term "sawm". To do this is very simple, the starting point would be to study the occurrences and the Classical Arabic meanings

Just wondering, Gamal Banna says there is nothing wrong with it and does not nullify as person'sfast.

                Peace,
                Respectfully.

I believe that smoking is sin according to The Quran.

Do not throw away your resources.

I just don't remember the exact number of the chapter and the verse.
                Glory be to our God,
                Glory be to Our God.
                Peace.

                  peace all

and there are also sverse (hope i'm not mistaken)...telling us "to take care of ourselves" and/or " to serve God's creations."

i can't see how one's smoking, whether during sawm or not, can translate to taking care of oneselves & those around them; and of serving God's creation.

been there, done that. alhamdulillah i'm off for a year now.

                  salamun alaykum everyone.

                  ramon jedi

                    Peace everyone,

Smoking tobacco should not be done at any time. It has been linked to more than 10 diseases

                    1. Chronic Bronchitis
                    2. Cancers Lung, Mouth, Nose and Throat, Larynx, Oesophagus, Pancreas, Bladder, Stomach, Myeloid Leukaemia, Kidney, Cervix
                    3. Coronory Heart Disease
                    4. Stroke
                    5. Bladder Cancer
                    6. Polycythemia
                    7. Osteoporosis
                    8. Peripheral Vascular Disease
                    9. Buerger's Disease
                    10. Peptic Ulcers
                    11. Cataracts
                    12. Pneumonia
                    13. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
                    14. Periodontitis
                    15. Pregnancy complications, premature delivery, low-birth-weight infants, stillbirth, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)

Smoking kills an estimated 440,000 Americans each year. On average, men who smoke cut their lives short by 13.2 years, and female smokers lose 14.5 years. The economic toll exceeds $157 billion each year in the United States - $75 billion in direct medical costs and $82 billion in lost productivity. More than 12 million Americans have died from smoking since the 1964 report of the surgeon general, and another 25 million Americans alive today will most likely die of a smoking-related illness.

Smoking kills not only the user but the persons around too. That is not only suicidal but homicidal too

We are asked to do good works/deeds in al-quran. Keeping the above facts in mind, HOW CAN SMOKING BE A GOOD DEED OR BE BENEFICIAL? IS SUICIDE OR HOMICIDE CONDONED BY AL-QURAN?

2219 They ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say ?In them is great harm, and a benefit for the people; but their harm is greater than their benefit.? And they ask you how much they are to give, say ?The excess.? It is thus that God clarifies for you the revelations that you may think.

If there is no benefit in smoking then why do it? If you smoke and you die because of it, it is suicide. If the person around you dies due to secondhand smoke, it is murder.

I think the question was if " smoking is allowed during fast" and not whether smoking is haram or halal.

im sorry i disagree, smoking does not kill neither a gun nor a bomb, nor any desease. god says he has written upon us the time of life and death not one second well we live beyond our time nor fall a second short. all these, we have seen people survive miraclious accidents and tragedies, and we have seen people die instantly in seconds as some soccer players i have seen who die on the field.
i am a smoker and i hate smoking but right now it is the only friend i have, and a very expensive one at that, but god give me patience i will quit one day i think.

I think a person should be abstaining from cigarettes on any (every) day, considering it is harmful to his body. That would be the best thing to do. If not, then I feel it's in the spirit of Ramadan to abstain from smoking during Ramadan at least.
