Is there anything we can do?

Salam
Whether we accept it or not, today the world looks Islam as an institute of terrorists. In the plcae i am staying, bangalore, i see banners saying "Islam is not about terrorism or jehad, Islam is about peace and love".
Is it because of a few terrorists or because of the real muslims who are keeping quite?
Cant we do anything to spread the true meaning of Islam? Can there be a day in future when i can proudly say that i am a Muslim without facing embarassing looks?

Definitely we can safeguard our lives and the lives of the people if we detach ourselves from the Muslim clergy, the imams and the mullahs and their premises, their hadith books, the ways of prayers described in them and their mosques in which only hadith is followed (9 107 & 9 10. What do you say to this sincere effort from our part? We shall stop following anything mentioned in hadith which is 100% contrary to Quran and try to be with Allah and obey His commands. We shall not follow the majority that has led the whole muslim world astray.

the best thing you can do i think, is to set a good example, then people will see through the veil of evil that's between the West and Islam.
