      Peace Tony,

If you have read the Quran carefully, you will find that corporeal punishment is the norm. This is also the case in the Torah. Eventhough, prison systems were there at Joseph's time. The Quran nor the Torah uses imprisonment as a penalty for crimes but instead prefer corporeal punishments. So wife beating is just one of them for disobedience, like the lashes for adultery, cutting hands for theft etc.

      Peace,

      Rami

        Awesome hypno

funny how wife beating men need to valorize themselves

rami, if you searched a little on this forum, you would have seen that other interpretations of the "punishments" are possible even though far from being universaly accepted

be it for theft or problems between couples, they usually are based on equity , which i consider as more godly than violence

            Peace Salim,

If peace means injusice, so Islam is against peace. Only religions without principle will sell justice for peace. Beating of the wives is only a punishment for disobedience and rebellion, nothing more nothing less. And anyone who will beat his wife out of this context and without performing the two procedures before this, then he has wronged himself and must repent.

            Peace,

            Rami

. (Beating of the wives is only a punishment for disobedience and rebellion, nothing more nothing less) .what if the husband is disobedient and rebellious who is going to punish him the toothfairy.

Rami would it not be better just to seperate from each othere or is that to peacfull and unreligious.also what constitutes your wife being disobedient and rebellious is her fartting in front of you being disobedient and rebellious ?

              Peace salim

Why do think in 434 there is a punishment and a permission to beat the wife rather than looking at the anger curbing steps. If men were allowed to beat the wife for the mere fear of disobedience this ayah would run contrary to this injunction of the Qur?an
4912 O ye who believe! Avoid SUSPICION as much (as possible) for SUSPICION in some cases is a sin And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah. For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.
                5025 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, CAST DOUBTS and SUSPICIONS;
As I understand the ayah it does not say ?who are rebellious? but,? for those of whom you fear rebellion?. This is mere feeling/doubt not actual act and this may result in violence, so hold yourself, Control your anger, first warn, this will clear your suspicion and you will get the answer from your wife. (first cooling period)
If you are not satisfied with her explanation then separate beds (second cooling period)
And finally you may raise your hand to control her.
After two cooling periods it is not possible to retain such rage as might cause a loss of control; beating of anyone mostly happens as a result of sudden loss of temper in other words provoked to violence it is seldom premeditated ..
I have yet to meet a man who can claim to have followed first two steps before raising a hand to his wife. Nor have I seen an Imam, who has punished a husband for failing to follow the first two steps before raising his hand.
                peace

                  Peace,

Usually the man wont be rebellious because he is one in authority But if she feels he is wronging her, she can simply inform his and her family and then consult them on how to resolve the problem. If the problem persist and she wants out, she just have to return the dowry and leave. But a man cant do this. As long as the dowry is with her, she is indebted to him to be obedient.

                      Peace,

OK, I know this subject is sensitive. Forget what I said. Lets define 'nushuz' first. Nushuz to get higher than your normal position. So its like Hyper, Supra or Ultra. How can a husband or a wife execute 'nushuz'??

No I believe this subject is very important as it deals with men having strength which may give them authority to use this as they like but this should be controlled.
As for Nushuz I would rather ask you to explain that word as my Arabic is not good.
                        peace

A husband beating his wife is in violation of the purpose of the marriage 3021 and numerous other verses establishing the relationship among muslims.

MEMRI wants to attack Islam and Arabs to manipulate western opinion. If they read the Torah, the will find it 100 times more violent and viscious. This only shows that the Euro-American-Israeli alliance is just a godless world who only lust after money and lands. Unfortunately, the Empire of Faith is still sleeping. Once it wakes up and straightens. BAM!

OK, but you have to recognise that Nushuz is a violation of marriage too. The husband won't spank his wife for no reason. Hopefully. D

BAM!

To be honest, I had always thought there was something very suspicious about 'MEMRI', I then found an article in the London Guardian saying it was run by an ex-Mossad and it made sense.

However, I am impressed by the depth of discussion that seems to be going on in the Middle East. Very often the bearded buffoons (have you seen the MEMRI clip of a big, fat, ugly man saying women must obey men when they want sex?!) are in the minority and seem to be considered fools. They have non-velied women and even sometimes atheists (really self-deists) on the panel.
