The obligation of Hajj

So I have seen the verse that states"In it are clear signs the situation of Abraham. And whoever enters it will be secure. And God is owed from the people to make Pilgrimage to the Dwelling, whoever can make a path to it. And whoever rejects, then God has no need of the worlds."(397)
Based on this verse it seems that Hajj is obligatory.
That is fine but my fear is that stampedes that happen yearly at Hajj where a number die cause of how many are jampacked in it. So I wanna ask about how to deal with the massive crowd while there and thus avoid getting stampeded to death? I don't have the means to go right now but i'm thinking of the future.
Also a side question, when it says "whoever rejects" near the end of this verse, some traditionalists try to point out that not doing Hajj when you are capable makes you a kaffir which to me doesn't make sense as I believe kufr means covering the truth which I would think means covering to truth about Hajj to yourself and/ or to others when kaffir is used in this verse and not doing Hajj when you are capable of doing it means you've sinned but not done kufr as long as you haven't disbelieved the truth about hajj nor covered the truth about hajj to other I would think. What do you guys think about this as well?

And note I am not fully understanding of Hajj yet and I seen there are different interpretations the specifics of hajjs including date, time, place and what we must do. So i'm posting based on when and where Hajj is normaly done by trafitionalists at least as I haven't fully looked up some of the Quran only views yet fully. Unless wishes to tell me in thos topic more clearly about it.

According to The Qur?aan the annual Hajj pilgrimage can be performed during the FOUR CONSECUTIVE HARAAM/SACRED MONTHS of Islamic lunar calendar-year.
Unfortunately, the ?CUSTODIANS? of the? TWO? HOLLY MOSQUES, for mere political and economic reasons have shamelessly ignored the word of GOD, the Almighty, and have limited the time of the Hajj pilgrimage to just the first ten days of the first HARAAM/SACRED month and have been forcing MILLIONS of pilgrims to perform their GOD prescribed HAJJ RITUALS in just a few days. That is why we are witnessing horrible incidents of killer stampedes, fires, and? on a regular basis at the time of Hajj.
The pilgrims ought to be given the time span, i.e. the full four consecutive months assigned in The Qur?aan, to perform Hajj in comfort and peace.

I regard the hajj in Mekka as being a form of idol worship in the form of meaningless rituals. Kissing a black stone, going around a kaaba 7 times or something and all that. It just doesnt seems right confused
And then the place is over crowded. For me it seems more as a 'tourist attraction'' in the name of islam.
May God guide us to the right path.
