Now think how much one could benefit himself, his family or others by working these 18 years or doing anything else useful..

    hmm

    Salaam.

It is for our benefits that we a break from the worldly affair and devote some time towards prayers, among other things it helps to lower stress levels.

Although of course if it benefits any individual to do 5,3,2 or any number then one is 100% free to indulge.

Counting every hour of our life for work is a sad state of life, you can provide comfortable life style for your family by being moderate in everything including work and keeping some time aside to help other than your family. nope 100% indulgence in anything.

      Hi Farida,

Sorry prayer's don't move mountains - you have to do it, And stress can be caused by many different things which then have to be soughted out and not merely forgotten and left for God allmighty, you have to take necessary or required steps according to ones abilities obviously.

      Stress;

      http//kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/emotions/stress.html

To pray and leave things for God to handle is the easiest, quickest way out - i think, don't you?

peace, my english is not so good, so I am sorry for that.
I do not tihink that the salat is an unnecessery rithual, it is very importent. It is a prayers confession and it helps him to find his real place in tihis universe. We and our wishes are determinated by many things in this world, includes Good too. If we do not have to pray, to have a "rithual" connection with Good, we woluld demonstrate an indipendent and that would be unrealistic. We are not indipendent even in our own society, we have to recognize that and behave in the spirit of that fact. I know, Good does not need our gratitude, but the point is in the principle. The realationship between a man and Good sholuld not be differen than the same between pepople themselfs.

          Peace Farida,

          I now see 3 times a day...dawn,noon and sunset...for salat.
If you mean should we follow the vast majority of the worlds Muslims outline of salat,then- no I dont think we should follow them. But I do believe in spiritual communication with our Creator during the given times that He gave us. My salat lasts usually around a minute,as I dont follow the traditional outline. I Stand,Bow and Kneel as spoken of in the Quran, during which I praise God and say the shahada. This is different than regular or spur of the moment prayer(dua) or asking for blessings. We can say prayer(dua) at any time or if we need to and anywhere.

God Bless and Peace be with you!

            Hi google, kadeen,

Salaat is counsel from God to us or between our selves to benefit - we are urged to seek counsel of the learned to solve our problems issues we may be facing. And look around the countries and people who adopted this are doing far far better .

We don't need to be connected with the almighty 5,3,1 or zilch times a day but we do need to be connected 100% of our time - if we are able to that is.

You might say "so we give up the world", I say "no".............

If you are living you?re minutes seconds hours ............with your actions based on the attributes of God then you are connected with him

              Peace be upon you all,

The verses in this counsel(quran) state that salaat(programming of the subconcious) is done at dawn and dusk in more than one verse...these are the times when the day and night (conciousness and subconcious) merge together.

This clearly eliminates something that is "all the time".

Further, arent we to stop all business to establish salaat? If it is 100% all the time, then how can we stop buisness to maintain it?

Sorry Br. my post was explaining two things.

                1. connecting with God - all the time if possible, by establishing actions based on the attributes of God , in the quran.

                2. Salaat/ counsel which is at times necessary. The salaat from The God to men comes according to ones requests/intentions from our hearts, whilst the salaat from other intelligent/ man of knowledge/experience is when we need it, we should seek it.

Thus the two are very different.

If you care to discuss dwn and dusk times which refer to your understanding please give the ayah- prefferably one.

                peace

                  Hello simple!

Then, when you have finished the 'salaat'/contact/council/communication, then remember God while standing and sitting and on your sides. Then, when you have become secured/safe, then maintain the 'salaat'; so the 'salaat' is decreed for the believers at specific/appointed times. (4103)

I believe its for certain times as God commanded, other wise He would not have said when you finished salat, then you are to also to remember Him throughout the day(standing, lying down, sitting etc). If its just rememberance, and not a physical act, that can be done all the time, there would be no need for God to tell us to do it and then after words also remember Him. And as God Within stated, the Quran does mention that we are to stop business to attend salat, though the only mention I recall refers to the Congregational Salat, still if we do this all the time and not at certain times then why tell us to have a congregational salat and to stop business? Also the Quran tells us to cleanse ourselves by washing certain parts before we peform salat, why would God tell us to do this if salat is always just mental thinking and doesnt contain any physical acts and should be done at all times? You dont have to answer, those are rhetorical questions and answers that say otherwise will not help any. Salat is physical, but must also be mental, we have to be in the right state of mind and believe what we say or they are just useless acts and words. This is my belief. You have yours.

                  Peace and God Bless!

Only the believers undertake counsel-which then benefits them as they act with one anothers counsel to benefit one another.

unbelievers don't believe in the counsel of one another-and don't give a damn about benefitting one another.

You perform counsel for the benefit of all, and then remember God so behave according to the counsel agreed upon.

There isn't a physical washing of any type in the quran - but we do it as a rule of hygene so we ar not offensive to one another also.

If you ever spend enough time on research of the quran you will get to know these things- i believe, as many others here have found.

The quran is a great book but has been forcefully embodied with hinduism by Hindues who ruled Saudi Arabia, so to know what it is you have to go into the Arabic quran using your God given intellect, there are some very good dictionaries about and other tools like Burhans available.

You have your beliefs and I have mine. Something to remember though, if you really want people to take council from you or listen to what you have to say. I would begin by responding in a Godly manner. I.E. stop using profane language when trying to get your point across.

My salat takes a minimum of 1 minute, but can be lengthened depending if I wish to say more.
Salat for me, is time to make contact with God and a time for reaffirming my faith in Him.
                            Here's my basic outline.
                            http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9597919.msg194277#msg194277
                            Stand
I seek refuge in you God from satan the rejected.
I testify and believe that there is no God other than You.
                            Bow
Praise be to you God who has never begotten a son, nor do You have a partner in Your kingship, nor do You need an ally out of weakness.
                            Prostrate
Praise be to You God, Lord of the universe!

And of course salat is different than dua/prayers. Prayer/dua can be done at anytime for any purpose.

I suggest everyone get to studying the difference between "salaat" and "Dua"....Dua is prayer and can be short, long, and any way you want it....Salaat is something totally different...it is the means of programming the nafs(subconcious).

Good advice. And your correct, there is a difference, thats Why God chose different words when speaking of them. I just disagree with those who say its not a commanded act that we are to perform.

                                  Peace be upon you all,

I suggest everyone get to studying the difference between "salaat" and "Dua"....Dua is prayer and can be short, long, and any way you want it....Salaat is something totally different...it is the means of programming the nafs(subconcious).

Please see the thread on the free webinar on meditation this week for more info

                                  Okay,

So does a person program himself when he/she accepts counsel of different people?

                                  peace

ONLY when that counsel is accepted over and over again in a state of high receptivity, also known as trance. It is a very common state that we go in and out of everyday, but salaat is the way to take control of this function. SImple, please sign up for the free online lecture I posted. I have actualy tried all that you say long ago.
The mind only Accepts to believe after it experiances results over and over and gradualy it will start believing strongly.
Vebal repetitions are simply ignored until those results are practicly experianced.

Everybody believes / Knows that people with experiances or knowledge know things that are right/true - so you tend to accept their advice more often and acting upon it leads to desired results most often and that is why we are to seek advice from such a people-the learned.

but to each his/her understanding wow

How many people have to die before the cigarette smoker "believes strongly" that cigarettes are bad for you?

So when the Surgeon General says smoking is bad, and when the box itself says it is bad, why do people continue to smoke? Do we have to wait on a more knowledgeable person to come along? Or is it just a problem of programming the subconcious/nafs?..which is what God says is the key to success by the way.

They may continue but their belief changes to a certain extent. Especially here in the UK seeing a picture of the two lungs on a packet of cigarettes, that of a smoker and a non-smoker, it?s dis-heartening, i think the more you see of the effects and what will happen to you has a major effect.

                                          peace
