    Salaams Maz,

    Keeping in mind Joseph had 11 brothers;

    124
Behold! Joseph said to his father "O my father! I did see eleven stars and the sun and the moon I saw them prostrate themselves to me!

Did he see 11 planets or where his eleven brothers decieving him and being being nasty to him.

    peace
So you did not even see the link.
    "When Yousaf told his father "Dad! I keep seeing 11 planets, the sun and moon, I see them like those who have attraction in coming nearer for me" {Refer 1204}

Father advised him not to narrate it to his 11 brothers to avoid inspiration of any jealousy in them by the Satan. Indeed this dream reflected metaphorically a fact that had to happen in the life of Yousaf when his father, mother and 11 brothers were to come near to him/join him in Egypt after his separation and having been taken by a caravan and sold by them to an advisor/ minister of the king of Egypt. There is a similarity between the planets and 11 brothers of Yousaf . Both did not have their own light. They reflect light. 11 brothers have become famous only because of Yousaf .

But the fact remains that he had seen 11 planets. The question is can we see/perceive even in dream a thing which does not exist in reality somewhere? What he had seen also had proven a reality. Can neurons create and pass on a signal for storage in the memory without existence of a thing somewhere?

One thing is certain that Messengers of Allah never see a dream which does not exist as a fact in the past, present or future. He has seen 11 planets, excluding the earth. We will find them sooner or later; it is the promise of Allah

For rest pl see the link to know the difference between a star and a planet. His brothers were not "stars" they have resemblence to Kokab.

When he saw the moon rising up, he said "This is my lord." But when it set, he said "Unless my Lord guides me, I shall surely be among the people who went astray." Funny thing is hadn't he seen the moon rising and setting and the sun rising and setting before this time?

Actualy I believe, these things , whatever they where, must have had a significant effect on him, for him to consider them as his Rabb but when he saw the results he said no - They can only be whose effect would be opposite to the attributes of God and certainly no sun or moon.

He was arguing with people to make them think. His concluding remak people dont read to visualize the whole scene of the episode.

And then 79-83 may also be read alongwith it.

                    Salaams Br,

When he saw the sun rising in splendour, he said "This is my Lord; this is the greatest (of all)." But when the sun set,

Well how i can understand is , He saw it rising and said ......then he saw it stting and said..........

Hadn't he seen it before, was this the first time, did he come out from a box or something?

You see it can't be the sun . NO WAY.

It is something he is seeing for the very first time and from its effects isn't taking it as his Rabb.

The Sun we see from childhood everyday and we know it rises and sets everyday, its nothing new.

                    hmm

Now you have to find what that something is, its in the quranic details to do with Abraham.

                    Thanks and

                    God Bless.

Scanning various translations on line, I saw this logical explanation in QXPiv at www.ourbeacon.com. Wonder if this is an allegory used by God to make people understand.

674Remember when Abraham said to his father Azar (Terah), ?How could you worship idols as gods? I see you and your people are in obvious error.?

675And to this end, We gave Abraham insight into the Mighty Dominion of the Universe so that he might attain firm conviction.

676(Some of his people were idolaters and others were Nature-worshipers.) One night when it grew dark upon him he saw a planet (Venus). Abraham exclaimed to them, ?This is my Lord!? But when it went down, he said, ?I do not love things that go down.?

677(Another night) when the moon was rising, he exclaimed, ?This is my Lord.? But when it went down, he said to himself and to the people, ?Unless my Lord guides me, I surely will go astray.?

678(In the morning) he saw the sun rising in splendor, and he said, ?This is my Lord! This is greater!? But, as the sun went down, Abraham exclaimed, ?O My people! I am free from all that you associate with God.?

679?I have focused firmly on Him Who initiated the heavens and the earth; as an upright man I turn away from all that is false. I will never be an idol worshiper in any form.?

680His people argued with him, but Abraham said, ?Do you dispute with me about God when He has guided me? I do not no fear those you associate with Him. Nothing can happen to me contrary to the Laws of God. My Lord encompasses all things in His knowledge. Will you not then, reflect and use your intellect??

681He said, ?Why should I fear what you set up beside Him, when you do not fear to set up besides God, deities for which He has sent no Authority and are utterly powerless. Think which of the two sides among us deserves peace and security? Answer me if you have the answer.?

682Those who attain belief and do not cloak their belief with wrong doctrines, for them is inner peace and security. They are rightly guided.

683This is the logic (examples of the star, the moon and the sun) that We taught Abraham (Ibrahim) against his people. We exalt people in ranks when they follow Our Laws. Your Lord is Wise, All Knowing.

The most striking point is that Ibrahim alahissalam has used word "Rabb" NOT ILAHA. No idolator in the word call the idols as their Rabb but consider them as Ilaha. These two words are distinct from each other. He was emphasising for them to consider this point that how someone can be Ilaha when that is not performing as rabb.

                          Salaams Mazhar,

how someone can be Ilaha when that is not performing as rabb.

can you say how their ilah's wern't performing as Rabb.

                            Peace all,

In a night's sky, there are lots of stars(Nojoom) and a few very birght "stars". These distinct "stars" are the planets(Kawakeb). The planets decorate the sky but can't be used for guidance. The opposite is true for the stars. The position of the stars is so important that God swears by them and they are used for navigation and astrology.

The Hebrew scriptures doesn't differentiate between the star and the planets. They are all Kowkab!!

                            Peace,

That is how I took it, especially in light of the pagan religions inserted through syncretism.

One Star Eastern Star aka Sirius. Found in Masonic rituals and venerated. Represents Tammuz of original pagan Trinity. On December 25 the Eastern Star and Orions Belt (aka 3 Kings) point to the horizon where the sun rises.
Moon Diana/pagan fertility goddess. Notably diana and the Easter Spring Equinox. The Catholic Church made Easter on the same day as pagan fertility/Spring celebrations for a reason. Represents Semiramis of original pagan Trinity.
Sun This is the biggie. In Christian Trinitarian worship, this is the Risen Son, aka the risen sun. Take a look at the Christian/Judaism/other forum and see my Scriptural rebuttal to a sister who converted to Christianity in the 'many new changes' thread. The Catholic Church aka MYSTERY, GREAT WHORE BABYLON, changed the Sabbath to SUNday, usurped worship from God to the sun of god, the images of Jesus often contain a disc behind his head, and the birth of Jesus found in the Bible is based purely on astrological events concerning the 'birth' of the sun after hovering on the horizon from Dec. 22-24. Again, syncretistic worship contained in the Church and propigated by her harlot daughters. Represents Nimrod of original pagan Trinity. Look up evergreen worship as well.

When any of these are venerated or worshipped, the praise and adoration goes to the deceiver, satan. Surah 6136

                                Peace and blessings.

No idol worshipper ever called self made idols as Rabb. They are always named and introduced as Illaha. If you know one pl tell me. The people who befool others ane not bigger fool to describe their hand made statue as Rabb. It will expose their fraud very quickly.

With respects, what is the difference in having a statue or a symbol of God allmighty or not having one at all? Where is the harm?

With respects, what is the difference in having a statue or a symbol of God allmighty or not having one at all? Where is the harm?

                                      yes

                                      Peace be unto you,

                                      no

"You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." Exo. 204

We are told to read all God's Books for a reason.

"The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship." Surah 12106

                                      Peace and blessings.

                                        Salaams Br,

There aren?t to my knowledge any idols in sura 12, it?s all about Joseph.

When ever one goes in their behavior in opposition to Gods commands you are doing shirk.

Shirk isn?t about statues or stone idols of any sort ? according to my research.

                                        Example;
                                        12.33
He said "O my Lord! the prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me Unless Thou turn away their snare from me, I should (in my youthful folly) feel inclined towards them and join the ranks of the ignorant."

                                        God Bless.

                                          Salam all,

In my opinion, only sentient beings can be 'Rabb' as the Rabb acts and takes care of things. But anything could be an 'ilah' even stone idols.

                                          Peace.
