Did Abraham see one star and wasn't aware of the rest?
-
Hi Br,
where on earth does it say that?
and doesn't it say Abraham broke the idols all eccept one or something?
They are scattered verses.
3441 They will say, "Glory to Thee! our (tie) is with Thee - as Protector - not with them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinns most of them believed in them."
Till now, I don't know how did they know the Jinns in the first place.
1620 As for those they call on besides God, they do not create anything, but are themselves created!
1621 They are dead, not alive, and they will not know when they are resurrected.Yeah he broke all the idols except one to make a point to his tribe that these things are useless. The only Ilah who is also a Rabb is Elohim/Allah.
Peace,
Rami

They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them."2154
He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers."2155
They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?"2156
He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing) and I am a witness to this (Truth). In the fourth ayah he says "Your lord created them" and "i am a witness".
These ayah's are talking about the idols Abraham broke.
Allah cretaed the Idols and Abraham was a witness!!!!!!!!

Umm no. The word 'fatara' means to initiate from nothing and it refers to the heavens and the earth and not the idols. The idols are brought by 'khalaqa' or to create and usually it needs raw materials first. God is the only 'fater' originator. No being other than God can be a 'fater'. But you can do 'khalq'. When you do it, it is also attributed to God! and so God is the creator of all things though we create things ourselves. Another example is that in war, God says that its not us who throw the arrow but it is God!

The word witness doesn't always mean to physically see. For example the followers of Jesus said
353 "Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness."
Or the ones who believed in Mohammed
583 And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth they pray "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.
These people have faith but they will bear witness. How is that possible. To resolve this delimmna. God's signs are obvious so people who have faith simply recognized the evidence and will bear witness. So if you look at the heavens and the earth, it's pretty obvious that there is one creator so Abraham is a witness to this.

You have to see/ be present- to witness anything.
352
When Jesus found Unbelief on their part He said "Who will be My helpers to (the work of) Allah?" Said the disciples "We are Allah's helpers We believe in Allah, and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims.
353
"Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness."583
"Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness."As you see above they are asking Jesus to be their witness to their being muslim.
Next they are being witness to the revelation and Jesus.again in 583 they are witnessing the revelation they are recieving and the messengership.
Where is it based on faith alone as you said, especialy when you haven't seen what you are witnessing?

Please read carefully what he had said, before.....
He is telling them a fact and for them he is among those who confirm it. Shahid is not restricted to mean "seeing with eyes". A statement/fact recorded in a book and referred by a person is "the primary evidence" in a court of law also.

He isn't telling them a fact, the fact is he wasn't present when the heavens where created.
Yes shahid/witness is restricted to seeing with the eye, in any culture.
A statement in a book of law may be accepted as "the primary evidence" in a court of law, As the staement repersents a fact.
but him being present at the birth of the heavens is not a fact , and neither is it present in any book. hmm
God Bless.

Or He is testifying to his previous saying "you and your fathers have been in manifest error" 2154, because in 21 57 he continues "AND by God I shall plot a plan to destroy your idols after you you're gone away"

Salaams ,
Just look at the following; assuming Rabb in this case is the pharoe, as he was a Rabb to those people;Forget what samawaat and Alardh are for a while &
2153
They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them."2154
He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers."2155
They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?"2156
He said, "Nay, your Lord, Lord of the samawaat and the Alardh, he Who created them and I am a witness to this.2157
"And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs"..The subjest matter of the ayah's are the idols and Abraham witnessed their creation.......

He said, "Nay, your Lord, Lord of the samawaat and the Alardh, he Who created them and I am a witness to this.A poor and incomplete translation. Here conversation has been recorded as quotes. "Nay"" is for what? this is to negate their being . One has to be subservient to his Sustainer Lord. He is telling them .
