Quran inviolable?
-
Peace to all,
For years I believed that the Quran was safeguarded by God Himself and so was incorruptible. Then I found out that in fact that the Hafs and Warsh copies do have slight differences in them. This came as a shock to me. I started pondering how this was possible since God says "We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). " 15.9
I remember I had an argument with a Christian when he was questioning how I knew the Quran was incorruptible to which I cited the above verse; he asked me if it was possible that someone added this verse after tampering with the Quran and I did not have an answer. I mean how can we know for certain that the Quran has not been tampered with?
Right now it seems like there can be alterations in various Qurans out there, but the message would still say the same. Is this why God promised he would preserve the message and not the Book? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

peace said, all,
I recommend a forum search as this topic has come up before. Here are some brief thoughts or avenues to explore
What EXACTLY did God say would be guarded?
Do the differences violate what was said to be guarded?
Are the differences significant enough to change the meaning?
Have the differences been cross-referenced to see if they/some can be invalidated?
If I change my copy of The Quran right now, have I proven God's promise wrong?
Is the original Quran still extractable?
The original Quran did not have vocalisation marks, so how valid is it citing errors in this aspect?

What matters is how you understand the Koran thats in front of you. Speculation is not something that God will judge you on except if you base your belief on them. Its not our job to interpret events beyond our knowledge but whats important is basing your beliefs based on how you understand the Koran and who you thinks its author is.
The Koran says its a clear message and a sign of God. People can also ask "how do you know there is a God?", so why should they not ask about the Koran also? And how will you then prove there is a Creator? Thats why its called faith. Its the heart that determines faith and not what you see and hear.
Anyways Sunnis believe that verses came down and are no longer contained in the Koran yet that did not stop them from believing the Koran. There are Sunni narrations that believe 200 verses from Ahzab chapter are missing including the verse of rajm. You should base your faith on the Koran that comes your way, specualting about history is useless unless you have some evidence which we don't. I don't believe in the Koran because the Koran tells me to, I believe in the Koran because I do not believe its origins are human. I can tell the author is the same as the Creator of the world.
Its seperating life on Earth from God thats difficult. We tend to internalize our human hardships and then we reflect that with God. Atheist regularly use pain and suffering on Earth as an indication of God's nature. But life on Earth may not be a reflection of God's nature.

Those links do not work for me.
To all,
I cant believe I forgot this one in my original list above
How does one verify a truth?
I truly mean it when I say the above question is key to understanding oneself, God, revelation and this life. One should treat The Quran like it is you and you are The Quran, your experience is The Quran, The Quran is experiencing you, then you may begin to resonate on its wavelength, then... well, let's just say "Buckle your seatbelt, Dorothy, ?cause Kansas is going bye-bye." ;D
