Finding piece of mind..

Hey guys,
I was once a committed muslim who prayed 5 times a day and had a simple outlook in life. I never looked deeply into my religion and only kept to the basics. I was able to focus on all kinds of matters in my life, like uni work and all while keeping my religion with me.
But now after reading all kinds of articles online and watching countless random videos on islam on youtube, I am the most confused human being on the planet. Sometimes I wish I never had internet to begin with because all it has caused me is confusion.
All I wanted in life was to get my degree, get married, raise a healthy family, and simply live to be an old pious Muslim. But now, this "simple" plan has become such a challenge, because I do not even know the base my religion stands on. I'm left daydreaming on a daily basis, and wasting a lot of time I should be using to study.
I really don't know where my life is heading, I'm just "going with the flow," waiting for something to happen that will put me back on track. What that thing is, I don't know. I'm just waiting...
Just thought I should throw that out there..

Someone wise once said "the problem with going with the flow is you wind up getting sucked down the drain".
Life is a challenge my friend, embrace it!
Ya, that's pretty much true.
Decided to post my thoughts here, because if I expressed them anywhere else (family, relatives, friends), I would be faced with fierce opposition.
Thanks.

air,
I think I know what you're going through and I know how scary the thought of religion interfering with your studies can be. My suggestion is that you study and read up on religion, but don't become obsessed with religion. Do a little bit of reading on religion every now and then. Also, realize that the god who started the universe's evolution 13 billion years ago will not mind if you take your time to study religion. You can't learn everything about islam in one night.

It might (also) have to do with other things. Just a suggestion.
I hope I haven't offended u.
ma'a salaam.
God bless all.

Actually yes, there are other things. Four of my very close friends have died these past 2 years, and this has caused me to think about death a lot. I am just so afraid to die with doubt in my heart.
Anyway I'm sure we have all felt this lost at some point in our lives. Takes time to figure things out.

Just thought I should throw that out there..Peace,
Respectfully.Same here, amigo. I have felt the same as you but i always remember and remind myself that The Exalted God has a Plan for all of us and that there are 0 coincidences and that everything that happens, not only happens for a reason but it's suppose to happen that way.
Just trust The Exalted God and rely on Him, be He glorified.
God knows best, right, so whatever comes into your life, or whoever, embrace it, take it and go with the flow but do remain on The Straight path, God willing, keep up the prayers and read The Quran, that's where i get my strength from, AlhamdilAllah.Internet is a beautiful invention and a blessing but one must know that it cna be abused as it sometimes is.
You cna still continue with your plan, God willing, you can always get your degree, get married, raise a perfect, happy an dhealthy family and be one of the Muslim families that follow The Law of God - The Quran.Just don't forget to rely on God, to trust Him, to always say if God wills because everything happens only if God wills and bear in mind that whatever happens, happens under the control of God, God controls ALL.
God bless you.
Glory be to our God.
Peace. -

alen- but i always remember and remind myself that The Exalted God has a Plan for all of us and that there are 0 coincidences and that everything that happens, not only happens for a reason but it's suppose to happen that way.
A few years back a friend asked had asked me regarding something -- "do you think this is just a coincidence?"
Today, years later, I think I am more sure than ever that it was not a coincidence. That perhaps nothing is coincidence.
However, I do feel that most of us, most of the times, either dismiss something as a coincidence or try to read too much into it. Maybe read it completely wrong at times. Maybe most of the times.
air-Anyway I'm sure we have all felt this lost at some point in our lives. Takes time to figure things out.
Wish u all the best in ur quest.
ma'a salaam.
God bless all.

Excellent observation!
And sometime assume that it is a response to our desire rather than God's mysterious Plan.

Peace brother,
Almost everyone on this board went through what your going through now. I'm sure the traumautic experience you just experienced is also a huge factor at the moment as well.
But don't worry within a year or two you'll level out and things will feel somewhat clear again.
However, the journey never ends and its a beautiful one.

For sure we have our Wish from Him and our lives are heading towards the same if only we do not disturb it. So keep going with the flow. We do not see the intangible Wish implanted in our hearts; yet it is incumbent upon a mumin to believe in such of His Grace even when it is in the non perceptible form. This is believing in the Unseen. As long as your days are passing by without worry or fear and with peace in mind and patience in your activities, you are right on the track already. Go with the flow, if only the flow is not hard and turbulent. This is my way, not my view.
Peace.
