How/When did the present Islamic Calendar originate??
What was the calendar in use before the present Islamic Calendar?
Was it the same as the Jewish Calendar?
Please provide sources.I want to study this topic in depth and would appreciate any source material where I can do so.
Any references to Arabic works would be appreciated for the sake of knowledge, however, I am more interested in English works and/or translations of Arabic works (since I don't know Arabic well enough).
