    Salamun alaykum

Is it possible that "Maqam Ibrahim is The Stance / The Principle of Ibrahim rather than the usual translations as Position ,
Standing , Station and others ? Considering that the muslims / believers are told to follow the Doctrine / Millata Ibrahim .

    Thank you all in advance

    Peace

If this is true, then why God told us to Make Pilgrim to the place where Makam Abraham exist; in other words, Makam Abraham is a Landmark to the Place of Pilgrim.

The firmest way that Ibrahim undertook in his life is that he did not commit shirk in any possible way. And he stood his ground in this unshakably and unwaveringly. Whereas Allah clearly states the status of the faith of the rest of the population as shirk tainted, whenever He mentions Ibrahim's name, Allah does not fail to qualify him as His only bondman for his absolute purity from shirk. This purity is the holiness; and the firm stance is the Maqaam of Ibrahim. He visited no place of natural splendor, but he chose to settle down in a valley that was not even a farmland; and where agriculture was not possible and no rain and thus the land was not fertile. His belief was his Maqaam in Allah - that He shall create rain; He brings down the rain upon a people who He pleases; He makes the land fertile in the manner He wants; and He is the savior; He gives life to who He will; and gives death to who He will.

So if you are a follower of Ibrahim, then pilgrim around the earth and find a place like the one Ibrahim visited to settle his family and the descendants believing only in Allah while allowing yourself high and dry. Ibrahim did this in his life, throughout when he knew who Allah is! Now follow Ibrahim and start the pilgrimage and visit and settle down in a no man's land and make the land bountiful with Allah's Grace and Mercy - thus making it a holy place! Each one of you do it if you are a muslim for Allah. Are you ready? The best of all preparations for such a journey on Haj is - Fear Allah alone and do not commit shirk in your duty to fear Him alone; and by not fearing anymore the world and the worldly things. Allah alone is fit for fearing if you know.

And complete the Pilgrimage and the visit for God. But, if you are prevented, then make what is affordable of donation, and do not shave your heads until the donation reaches its destination; but whoever of you is ill or has an affliction to his head, then he may redeem by fasting or giving a charity or a rite. But if you are able, then whoever continues the visit until the Pilgrimage, then he shall provide what is affordable of donation; but for he who cannot find anything, then he must fast for three days during the Pilgrimage and seven when he returns; this will make a complete ten; this is for those whose family is not present at the Sacred Temple. And be aware of God, and know that God is severe in retribution.
        2196

What is your understanding of the above verse and 2-197 to 203?

Among the myriad claims that u made, whence in the quraan did u get that one?

& apart from 2197-203, the following verses

              2226 And when We settled for Abraham the place of the House 'Thou shall not associate with Me anything. And do thou purify My House for those that shall go about it and those that stand, for those that bow and prostrate themselves;

2227 and proclaim among men the Pilgrimage, and they shall come unto thee on foot and upon every lean beast, they shall come from every deep ravine

                thegod,

I do not claim anything out of context to myself; but I say clearly what I experienced as the Truth of the Quran; I have no preconceived ideas; nor do I listen to the stories. When I take to reading Quran, I do so only to observe in it the straight path and guidance; and no sooner I got at it, than I applied it directly to my affairs and situations. I speak here the resultant benefits of lasting nature, as a result of my taking and application of Quran. One such thing was intercourse allowed during the day of fasting! For this I never cared to look up for any back up; nor do I back and fill.

Allah says "If you are a Mumin do not say that you don't do; for it is most hateful to God."

drfazl- Allah does not fail to qualify him as His only bondman for his absolute purity from shirk.

I know you knew this - but what I do not know is why the query despite.- Any way, I am citing just one verse characterizing Ibrahim as free from shirk.

3.67 Ibrahim was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was true in Faith, and bowed his will to Allah's, and he joined not gods with Allah.

The like of the above verse, qualifying Ibrahim in so many places as possible is the title Allah had bestowed upon him. If you can show me as many verses with regard to any other messenger, I will be grateful to Allah.

                Peace.

                  1. And when we assigned to Ibrahim the house's place is that do not partner with me a thing...

The following is one of the commands which he fulfilled to the utmost satisfaction of Allah, the All Knowing
2226. And when we assigned to Ibrahim the house's place is that do not partner with me a thing...

Allah admits Ibrahim's total commitment in fulfilling Allah's command and elevates him in ranks as Imam of men to come.
2 124 And when his Lord tried Ibrahim with certain commands, he fulfilled them. He said Surely I will make you an Imam of men.

Then Allah says to the community to follow Ibrahim including the messengers after him, up to the messenger who was a seal to all the prophets.
Most surely the nearest of people to Ibrahim are those who followed him and this Prophet and those who believe and Allah is the guardian of the believers.

                  Peace.

                  .

                        belH,

And complete the Pilgrimage and the visit for God.

A pilgrim is one who is on the pilgrimage, starting at any point of time in his life - in the path of Allah alone freeing himself from all sorts of shirk or association to Allah. Towards this end they face the inimical forces of shaitan putting him to all sorts of difficulties and laying painful obstructions in the path of Allah. It is life and death journey in the cause of Allah. When they die in the struggle, they are only rewarded the gardens; or if they over power the evil forces they are made inheritors of the bounties of Allah in this world itself. So the visit of God is certain when you certainly committed to the visit for the God. The visit of the God is Haj; and the commitment for the visit for the God is Umra. Now Allah says the following

9 19 What! do you make the giving of drink to the pilgrims and the guarding of the Sacred Mosque like him who believes in Allah and the latter day and strives hard in Allah's way? They are not equal with Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust people.

Whoso is of the belief that visiting the sacred mosque or guarding the sacred mosque or cleaning up the sacred mosque shall satisfy Allah, they are gravely mistaken. For Allah does say they are people unjust and He does not guide the unjust people.

What is your opinion on this Haj and Umra? Is it visiting 'sacred mosque' is visiting Allah? Or is it the way our prophets have guided us? Allah Himself addresses such ritualistic people as unjust? I will embark on the verses 2 196, 2 197 to 203 based on what you have to say on this post.

                        Peace.

                        .

Sorry, I have not checked this thread lately.

2-196 is a well-established and clear verse...it shows that Pilgrim is to a Precise Place that ones would need to travel to. what you indicated above is great, but has nothing to do with the verse.

                          Now Allah says the following

9 19 What! do you make the giving of drink to the pilgrims and the guarding of the Sacred Mosque like him who believes in Allah and the latter day and strives hard in Allah's way? They are not equal with Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust people.

This verse talks about the people who were working to serve the visitors (Hajj); apparently these people though by doing so, they are true believers, of which God disagrees...

                          Peace

                            belH,

If it is a clear verse, can you explain the meaning of the two words haj and umra from within the Quran itself? Allah has not created even heavens and earth and what is in between in vain; when such is Allah's creation, it is very unlikely that the words of Quran which is the Guidance for the beings of the universes, goes without meanings precise, suitable for occasions and situations of all times, from the inception of the universe till the last day. And while Islam rests in belief; and belief is only with regard to unseen for there is no need to believe when things are apparently there as materials. From Iman to Umra and Haj till the belief in the last day is based on one's mind strength in Allah. How do we know now whether 2 196 is a muhkamat or mutashabihat verse, when Allah had not defined them or demarcated between them in Quran? Do we believe in that when the very first requirement of a muslim is Iman i.e., believing in the God unseen, the one supposed to be the last duty of a mumin shall end up in rituals and rites?

                            Peace.

Any visit to the Masjed Elharam during the Four Restricted Month is "Hajj", otherwise, it is "Umra" (refer to 2-197).

                                  belH,

Can there be anything like masjid elharam? Then what is masjid? How do we believe that a masjid in mecca is pure and all other masjids all through the world are haram and impure? If all masjids belong to Allah, where is the question of masjid elharam as existing somewhere in mecca? Is there anything like this we find in Quran? Are we sure of that all the masjids throughout the world are prohibited mosques and the one in Mecca alone is holy? And Allah had not specified the 4 restricted months. So what are they? It is mutashabihat verse. Only Allah knows the real meaning of it. So we follow not the majority; and we have to follow only what is cleared to our heart, by Allah.

                                  17 36
And follow not that of which you have not the knowledge; surely the hearing and the sight and the heart, all of these, shall be questioned about that.

                                  Peace.

                                  .

                                    Salaam BelH
Would you please explain (name ) four restricted months ?
                                    Thanks

                                    Peace
I do not have sound knowledge in this issue, but I will do my best

91 This is a revocation from God and His messenger to those with whom you have made a treaty from among those who have set up partners.
92 Therefore, roam the land for four months and know that you will not escape God, and that God will humiliate the rejecters.
93 And a declaration from God and His messenger to the people on the day of the greater Pilgrimage ?That God and His messenger are innocent from all those who set up partners.? If you repent, then it is better for you, and if you turn away, then know that you will not escape God. And give news to those who have rejected of a painful retribution.
94 Except for those with whom you had a treaty from among those who have set up partners if they did not reduce anything from it nor did they plan to attack you; you shall continue the treaty with them until its expiry. God loves the righteous.
95 So when the restricted months have passed, then you may kill those who have set up partners wherever you find them, and take them, and surround them, and stand against them at every point. If they repent, and uphold the communion, and contribute towards betterment, then you shall leave them alone. God is Forgiving, Merciful.

According to the above, the following can be concluded

the four restricted months are consecutive (Lunar Months)
The four month end After Pilgrim
The month of Ramadan is one of these months

Moreover, I believe that the time of Ramadan has been preserved, and the Shia and Suna time is what I follow. Thus, Ramadan is the beginning of the Four Months.
                                    Ramadan
                                    Shawwal
                                    Dhu al-Qi'dah
                                    Dhu al-Hijjah

                                    belH,

I do not believe that the Masjed in Macca is the one. You can read more about my opinion in this topic here

There was literally an argument over the past histories and things based on hadiths which shall carry no meaning. It will be appreciated if there is any fresh exchange, for any person evolves by the day.

I agree with you that Hadith should not be the main source of our religion.
Now, if you have a solid verse that disapprove the Hajj to be to the Masjed Elharam that is in Jerusalem, please provide (trust me, I'm very fixable in my brain and not hardwired by Hadith Teachings).
May God lead us to His truth

                                          belH, Thanks.

In free-minds, I am looking forward to fresh-minds. Having disposed of hadiths; and having dispensed with the histories and theories, as we read through Quran all afresh we do not find Jerusalem or Mecca mentioned in it as places of pilgrimage. Further, we shall have to know what pilgrimage means from the point of Quran, the only Guide. Our wisdom shall have to get better by the day is Allah's words and promise for us. So we shall have fresh minds always; and this is possible only when we discard the populist, stale and standard habitual following. I will appreciate your personal views. Allah will question us individually on the Last Day, and not as Jamaaths. Shun the Jamaaths for they are shams! As long as we stay as an individual without adherence to the false strength in group understanding, we are sure we are individually in direct connection with Allah, for the best of all Guidance.

Pilgrimage Setting out to witness the evidences of the Truth of the words of Allah everywhere and in every direction. And the reason why we shall set out is to strengthen our Iman in the Guidance of Allah to explore and inherit the wisdom and glory of the universes that Allah had created for us in order that they become subservient to us. This is Allah's Straight path! The many many ayats that begin with the words "Have you not seen traveling around the earth?" indicate the necessity for the pilgrimage haply we fear and guard off evil. For this we need not go traveling far away for Allah says You are walking upon those perished villages and towns and cities which We destroyed on account of their own evil. The pilgrimage is now so near and close, as our special senses get acute in its observation seeking evidences of Allah in whatever we see, hear, smell.

Allah has not created heavens and earth and what is in between in vain; when such is Allah's creation, it is very unlikely that the words of Quran which are the Guidance for the beings of the universes, go without meanings precise, suitable for occasions and situations of all times, from the inception of the universe till the last day. And while Islam rests in belief; and belief is only with regard to unseen for there is no need to believe when things are apparently there as materials. From keeping up Iman to completing Umra and Haj and the belief in the last day is based on one's mind strength in Allah. No way! We cannot follow the crowd! Let us from the point of individuality exchange glad tidings and good omen.

With this in mind Let us begin our pilgrimage from 2196

Complete the 'Hajj' and 'umra' in the service of Allah.
Complete the 'pilgrimage' and 'visit' for Allah.

Hajj is the pilgrimage to strengthen belief in the One and the Only Allah; and
Umra is the unfailing efforts towards that end.

                                          Peace.

                                          .
