My salat takes a minimum of 1 minute, but can be lengthened depending if I wish to say more.
Salat for me, is time to make contact with God and a time for reaffirming my faith in Him.
    Here's my basic outline.
    http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9597919.msg194277#msg194277
    Stand
I seek refuge in you God from satan the rejected.
I testify and believe that there is no God other than You.
    Bow
Praise be to you God who has never begotten a son, nor do You have a partner in Your kingship, nor do You need an ally out of weakness.
    Prostrate
Praise be to You God, Lord of the universe!

And of course salat is different than dua/prayers. Prayer/dua can be done at anytime for any purpose.

      Peace be upon you all,

I suggest everyone get to studying the difference between "salaat" and "Dua"....Dua is prayer and can be short, long, and any way you want it....Salaat is something totally different...it is the means of programming the nafs(subconcious).

Please see the thread on the free webinar on meditation this week for more info

Good advice. And your correct, there is a difference, thats Why God chose different words when speaking of them. I just disagree with those who say its not a commanded act that we are to perform.
        God Bless!

          Okay,

So does a person program himself when he/she accepts counsel of different people?

          peace

ONLY when that counsel is accepted over and over again in a state of high receptivity, also known as trance. It is a very common state that we go in and out of everyday, but salaat is the way to take control of this function. SImple, please sign up for the free online lecture I posted. Wether u agree or not,it will help you to understand my position. Also, if you have a microphone, you can ask questions at the end if you so decide.

I have actualy tried all that you say long ago.
The mind only Accepts to believe after it experiances results over and over and gradualy it will start believing strongly.
Vebal repetitions are simply ignored until those results are practicly experianced.

Everybody believes / Knows that people with experiances or knowledge know things that are right/true - so you tend to accept their advice more often and acting upon it leads to desired results most often and that is why we are to seek advice from such a people-the learned.

but to each his/her understanding wow

If you had we would not be having this discussion.

How many people have to die before the cigarette smoker "believes strongly" that cigarettes are bad for you?

So when the Surgeon General says smoking is bad, and when the box itself says it is bad, why do people continue to smoke? Do we have to wait on a more knowledgeable person to come along? Or is it just a problem of programming the subconcious/nafs?..which is what God says is the key to success by the way.

They may continue but their belief changes to a certain extent. Especially here in the UK seeing a picture of the two lungs on a packet of cigarettes, that of a smoker and a non-smoker, it?s dis-heartening, i think the more you see of the effects and what will happen to you has a major effect.

                  peace

What does that mean? That sounds like how religious crusades are started. How do you force someone to stop smoking? My Grandfather had one leg cut off from smoking and couldnt stop..he eventually died soon after. SO how do you force someone?

Well what good are your beliefs if they cause no change in your behavior?

Is that what they are doing there? Well if so, is it working? Has everyone said "o wow...we never knew this!" and threw away thier cigartettes? While I agree they should do that...and it will HELP, it is not THE answer. Even when people become convinced that smoking(or whatever) is bad, the thoughts and urges still visit them, and this is what makes changing so hard. You must get to the ROOT of those urges and thoughts, and to do so you have to get to the medi-state, the state between awake and sleep, where you can change your behavior effectively.

                      Peace,

Salat does not involve bowing and prostration. Salat is the act of incense burning. Please read my article titled "Salat is none other than Incense Burning".

                      Peace,
