Can the soul die?
I asked this question in the Correction/Modification to FM Translation of AlQuraan section a week ago. But I didn?t get any answer so far.The problem is that I see that in The Qur'an - A Monotheist Translation several times its translated as the soul can die.
see 3/145, 3/185, 6/151, 9/85But is that possible?
I see other translation use the term "human" or "life" in these cases.
I think the meaning of this verses could be as it was the person dieing. Or you could get a spirtuel death, in the meaning you loose your realtion to God.
Anyway I?m not sure if the soul can die or will live forever. And I think the translators didn?t relate to this problem.
My question has it origion in the matter of reincarnation. What happens to our soul when we die. Does it go to an other place, can it go in to a creation again, or does it just die/?
On judgmentday is it our soul, or body that are being judged, since its our body that are rased again? Where is the soul in this scenary?
227 And the Hour is coming, there is no doubt in it, and God will resurrect those who are in the graves. But why should the soul be in the grave? Or maybe the soul is allready death due to the Monotheist translation. But then again its the only translators who have that option.It seems to my that the person can go against his own soul like we see in 7/160.... They did not wrong Us, but it was their souls that they wronged.
But again the meaning could be as you wronged yourselves, but also the understanding could be as you as a person could harm your soul.I am rather confused. So if you have some studies or understanding due to this topic, please share.

2888 And do not call besides GOD any god, there is no god except He. Everything will fade away except His face. To Him is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.
If taken literally, it would seem that only ALLAH is permanent.

You are right. I see that it now is changed in 6151. In the version i read (http//www.quranix.net/) its written ...
and do not kill the soul which God has forbiddenSo maybe there have been some considerations allready.

I just can?t quite understand the verse totally. It open up some new thoughts for me
Does it mean everything. Like The world, Sin, Satan, Angels, Quran, His words..
Also should it be before judgment or after? Or somekind of combination?

I found another possible translation of 2888 MOHAMMAD HABIB SHAKIR
And call not with Allah any other god; there is no god but He, every thing is perishable but He; His is the judgment, and to Him you shall be brought back.
Here its not translated as all will fade, but that every thing is pershable.Im not into arabic at all, so I dont know the way to interpret it, unless to ask here.
Anyway I see that most translation say will perish/fade away.But again that will give us the conflicts as I mentioned in my last post.
May God lead us to the right understanding.

die in what sense...return to nothing? recall the ayat of Maryam, where she was giving birth to Prophet isa? what did she ask for?
if we can pen-point the soul we can probably answer this but i'm just replying with a slight answer ALLAH knows best and i'm not sure who would want to find out.
