No question asked when something is plain - Quran verses as proof
-
Peace brothers and sisters
While going through the Quran, I came across these 2 verses... Each complementing one another...
First verse...
5101
(O ye who believe! Ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if ye ask about things when the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made plain to you, God will forgive those for God is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.
From this verse, we can deduce clearly that when the message, which is Al-Quran is made plain and clear, we should not question the message even if it seems to go against our will...
But the people at the time of the prophet was allowed to ask other questions as the Quran was still being revealed... So, we see from this verse that the people were not allowed to question the plain message but they were only allowed to ask other questions which have not yet been mentioned in the revelation....
But since the revelation of the Quran is complete, therefore only the first part concern us and the second part of the verse contain the historical knowledge about the revelation of the Quran and the audience..
The lesson from this verse alone is not to ask all kind of questions when the message is crystal clear and plain...
Now the second part ...
2533
And they bring thee no similitude but We bring thee the Truth (as against it), and better (than their similitude) as argument.
And no question do they bring to thee but We reveal to thee the truth and the best explanation (thereof).
And they shall not bring to you any argument, but We have brought to you (one) with truth and best in significance.
Nor shall they come to thee with puzzling questions, but we will come to thee with the truth, and their best solution. From the above verse from another surah, Allah is informing us that no questions from the people regarding the truth have been left unanswered... The people have come with all kind of questions and Allah has always replied with the truth and the best explanation through the Quran...
This verse makes clear that Allah has replied to all the questions and you can find the answers in the Quran...
That was a little note from my part... The thread is open for further discussion on this...
Peace

I think concerning this I have read some explanation, and it makes sense to me, along the line that there are plain things that by trying to going too much into them, in fact you make things more difficult and get nothing, and the example of when the israelites were ordered to sacrifice a heifer and they started asking, what kinf of heifer, and then, what her colour, and then what age... and so on, which we really unnecessary. Just whatever heifer... Unfortunatelly ritualism does a lot for that kind of thing. As the Qur'an says somewhere else, it doesn't want to make things difficult for us, but easy, so we should not complicate them, nd use some common sense and measure, and not milk any statement to derive straneous things that in turn demand further and further "expertise".
I think there is even a hadith, and you will excuse me for it, but I think that this one is one of the good ones attending to content. I can't remember it exactly but it was about some person asking something really not very significant from the Prophet, who answered out courtesy even if not convinced that that was so momentous. To his answer the person asked details, and so back and forward several times, till finally the Prophet said something like you should not ask too much, because if I answer you you will end up burdening yourself with things which are really not necessary nor are of consequence or a duty.
Something like that.
Like in so many cases a suppose that the aya may hold more than one possibility.
Salaam

yes
By taking the 'complex' way. we will obviously be missing the obvious... hehe
