Count and number/ 3iddat and 3adad
-
Peace all.
As you probably know brother Ayman explained that "3iddat" means count and "3adad" means number. This difference plays an important role in his arguments. So I need to verify it. My Arabic isn't good enough tor read in classical Arabic dictionaries and I couldn't find a solid distinction in the English lexicons of classical Arabic. The only thing I found is that 3iddat seems to be a verbal noun whereas 3adad seems to be a normal noun. Hence one could say the act of counting is rather involved in 3iddat... I found that information in "Vocab of Quran by A.A. Nadwi". It says
3adad number, counting (noun)
3iddat some number, lit. counting, to count (verbal noun)You can check here http//ejtaal.net/aa/#hw4=708,ll=2059,ls=0,la=2832,sg=695,ha=469,br=628,pr=103,aan=401,mgf=587,vi=256,kz=1591,mr=h416,mn=h902,uqw=h1055,umr=h701,ulq=h1195,uqa=h283,ums=h585,umj=h520,uqq=h233
You need to skim the pages (sometimes back) to find all information about the root 3-d-d.
Please help me to find some relevant information concerning the difference of "3iddat" and "3adad".
Peace.
