The principle of the Quranist cult is that they do not refer at all for explanation of the Quraan Majeed from the Sunnah. They claim to follow the Quraan literally without any extra source of divine guidance to explain its meaning.

On the basis of this, I would appreciate the Quranists here tell me their interpretation of Surah 2, Ayah 230

And if he has divorced her , then she is not lawful to him afterward until she marries a husband other than him. And if the latter husband divorces her , there is no blame upon the woman and her former husband for returning to each other if they think that they can keep the limits of Allah. These are the limits of Allah, which He makes clear to a people who know.

Basically, the verse is saying, from the apparent meaning, that if a woman is divorced and marries another husband after, then her second husband divorces her as well, she is eligible to re-marry her first or previous husband.

Now we know from the Sunnah that if a man divorced his wife, then later he regretted his decision and wanted to take back his wife, so he arranged for one of his friends or someone willing to temporarily marry his wife, consummate the marriage with her, and then divorce her so that she can once again return to her previous husband....that this is forbidden and considered a type of Zina (Fornication). In other words, when a woman is divorced and she marries another man, it must not be pre-programmed that he will divorce her in order that she can return to her husband. Rather, every marriage must be with the sincere intention from the beginning that it will be permanent. Yes, if later on during the second marriage the woman's second husband feels it was a mistake to marry her and so divorces her, only in that rare instance where a woman has been divorced to her second husband as well due to genuine reasons can she return to her first husband if they so wish.

The Hanafi school, however, ignores this additional condition from the Sunnah and interprets the verse literally. Based on their literal interpretation, they consider the practice of Halaalah or Nikaah al-Tahleel to be legitimate, where a man marries a divorced woman temporarily simply to make her permissible for her previous husband to remarry.

However, the sect which I belong to, which is Ahlil Hadeeth (those who strictly follow Hadeeth and Sunnah) consider Halaalah to be a cursed practice which is tantamount to adultery. I would like to know what is the Quranist position, since the Quranists claim to follow the Quran literally without any explanation from the Sunnah, therefore, their position on this issue should be identical to the Hanafi school.

Do not really care about your religion Israfeel. Go on about your business as long as you hurt no one and not oppose "is that is" (Allah).

      Be of one in God

        Peace Israfeel

I can easily follow your views.

I find no contradictions in mine and your belief.
I find it also wrong to marry just for the purpose to divorce. This cant never be the intentions of marrige.
Also I notice that the verse says divorced for the third time. So the practise you are refering to is only after the first time.
Now we know from the Sunnah that if a man divorced his wife, then later he regretted his decision and wanted to take back his wife, so he arranged for one of his friends or someone willing to temporarily marry his wife, consummate the marriage with her, and then divorce her so that she can once again return to her previous husband....that this is forbidden and considered a type of Zina (Fornication
        ).
Aint that Sunnah also showing that they thought the should marry another when they didn?t had to.
In other words Following this Sunnah makes you a sinner..

          Peace Israfeel.

The context of divorce started before .

Go back to the waiting period of three menstruations, this is in case there is a pregnancy or reconciliation. i.e both agreed to remarry.

This is only allowed twice . Both are allowed another chance in case things got back to square one. i.e they separated and divorced a second time and wanted to get back to each other during the waiting period.

However after two times if they separate again and divorce they are not allowed to remarry each other for the third time ..

They cannot just keep divorcing and getting back together, unless she married someone else then divorced and he is available and both wanted to remarry . This may work as they might both learned a lesson and they may now try harder to keep the marriage working.

          That is my understanding.

          GOD bless you.
          Peace.

            Salam Israfeel,
As "Quranism" is not a Madhhab but more an attitute (that actually includes not following a Madhhab but thinking for yourself), there might be different answers to one problem.
One thing, however, that the Qur'an demands is sincerity in all of your actions. The two men in your example hwever don't act out of sincerity but try to trick and cheat, so this, according to my view, is not what God expects from us. But for that, you don't need any hadith or fatwa, just a (more or less) pure heart.

Well said OP, it is adultery but even a literal interpretation of the Quran doesnt change this. No true "Quranist" would indulge in such. There are enough verses on sincerity in the Quran. To God is our return.

However, i have questions for you.

              1. Arent the Hanafites part of ahlu sunna? They are recognised as a sunni school of thought like the Hanbalis or Malikis, right?

              2. Don't you think the sunni tradition that permit a man to divorce his wife by mentioning "i divorce you" thrice at a spot open doors for adultery too? I mean, a man can simply marry a woman today just to sleep with her and once he is satisfied, he can easily pronounce this line thrice tommorow morning to get rid of her. Isn't this possible, isn't this adultery?

The Quran does give a guideline and mentions situations and conditions that should be considered before marriage

                Determining mutual attraction/compatibility
Ascertaining whether the potential partner is of similar beliefs/faith
Discussion of and agreeing to the level of dower and other terms (if any)
Understanding and mutual acceptance of marriage as a solemn/strong oath/contract
If male, capable of providing for the family/household
To have physically matured / post-puberty

If the marriage is unsuccessful, one should also be capable of undertaking divorce proceedings, e.g. separation period, arbitration, discussion of settlement etc .

Of course, both parties, or one party, could pretend or fake it, and they will be held accountable to God in the end.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Aet'Ta'laaqo; the formal pronouncement and resultant state of suspension-freezing of conjugal relation for terminating the Bond of Nikkah is permissible only on two occasions in time-line of married life.

Consequently on expiry of prescribed intervening period for reconciliation, there is option for you to resume "mutual association" in accordance with the known norms of society.

                  Otherwise, recourse is partitioning-apartness in a respectable-decent-appropriate manner .

Take note, it is not permissible for you-the husbands who terminate the Conjugal Bond that you might take back any moveable and immovable asset out of that which you had already given them

The exception to the aforementioned injunction is for that particular couple who considered-apprehended that they both would not be able to maintain the limits of Allah the Exalted in continuing the Conjugal bond/Nikah.

Thereby, in such case if you people-society/concerned families apprehended that this couple will not be able to abide by the limits of Allah the Exalted, then there is not at all harm-blemish in adjudging upon such couple that the wife agreeably recompensed out of that which her husband had given to her to earn separation/termination of Marriage Bond. .

These are the limits-restraints-demarcations-options for dealing with the situations prescribed-ordained by Allah the Exalted.

Therefore, you people should not consciously and purposely transgress them.

Beware, that whoever consciously and diligently transgresses the limits set by Allah the Exalted, thereby they are truly the evil-doers-distorters-creators of imbalances-disorders-over stepping.

Here the case is wife paying to her husband to make him agree to break the marriage. It is her disliking for continuing the marriage. Next ayah is only about such wife whom her husband agrees to divorce on getting financial compensation

Carefully see the Particle Fa and then condition particle

                  http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/temp%2002%20%202.230e.gif

                  Thereat, if the husband divorced her the Wife who demanded and paid for the termination of Marriage, then She will persistently not be permissible in timeline for him after the earned divorce;

Until such time that she might marry with a spouse of her choice other than him who divorced her. .

Subsequently, in case her husband had divorced her , thereat there is not at all harm-blemish upon the two that they might mutually approach each other to remarry.
This is however subject to the condition that the both felt that now both might mutually maintain the limits set by Allah the Exalted.

Be aware; These are the limits-restraints-demarcations-options for dealing with the situations ordained by Allah the Exalted.

He the Exalted explicitly demarcates them for the people who pursue acquiring knowledge.

                    To answer your questions

                    1. Hanafi is a school of jurisprudence and is not related to creed per se. There have been different kind of Hanafis throughout history, with many of the misguided sects like the Mu'tazilah, the Murji'ah, the Shi'ah, the Karraamiyah, and the Maturidiyah adhering to the Hanafi school of law. There have also been, but a very small minority, of Ahlus Sunnah people following the Hanafi school. Today, majority of Hanafis are Maturidis, and we don't consider them as part of Ahlus Sunnah.
Furthermore, we reject the concept of Taqleed (blind following) of any scholar or school of thought because it has no proof from Quraan or Sunnah.

Of the four schools of thought (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'ie, and Hanbali), Hanafi is the weakest and most questionable one.

                    1. The tradition of divorcing a woman on the spot with three talaaqs in a single instant has no proof from the Sunnah. Once again, it is a tradition that is restricted to the Hanafi school. According to our position, if a husband says to his wife three talaaqs at once, it will only be counted as a single talaaq.

You bond up to make a male and female become as one body and they are supposed to remain like that until the promised day. Only exception, ground for divorce, is if one of them becomes an "anomaly" towards 'is that it is' (traditionally God) and slip away from it. But before divorce it is upright to first try and give the spouse many chances and mercy is a trait of those of doers of good.

Patience may be rewarding; my own wife was a sectarian person but I did not give up and she has now gradually become purified and been made to understand what is really from 'is that that it is'.

Be of one in 'is that that it is'

I think you were lucky there, i wouldn't consider marrying an orthodox muslim. Our differences are just too many. Besides, i don't think any orthodox muslim will accept your proposal for his daughter knowing that you reject ahadith. And if you only revert to Quran alone after marriage, your home may be intruded by orthodox muslim who will forcefully separate you from your wife and kids.

                                Salamun Alaika brother Israfeel.

I intend to offer a response to the your original question. If I understand correctly ? your concerns are

                                1. Without hadis ? how do we know we cannot marry with a predetermined intension of divorce.
                                2. Without hadis ? how do we know that a husband cannot divorce his wife 3 times in one go.

I would like to draw your attention to the following verse

2231 And whenever you divorce the women then they reach their term then retain them with fairness or release them with fairness. And do not retain them injuriously so that you transgress. And whoever does that then certainly he wronged his soul. And do not take the signs of Allah in mockery and remember the blessings of Allah upon you; and what has been sent down to you of the book and the wisdom - He instructs you with it - and be conscious of Allah and know that Allah is Knowledgeable of everything.

(My personal translation, emphasis added ? cross checking is recommended)

Do you see the instruction ?do not take the signs of Allah in mockery?? Any sensible person who applies his ?God-gifted? common sense and intellect would understand that the two practices mentioned in the beginning are intended to misuse / manipulate the verses of Qur?an which defies the spirit of the system prescribed by Qur?an ? in other words anyone performing such practices would be taking the signs of Allah in mockery.

Thus if we apply our common sense / conscience and intellect ? then Qur?an?s directive itself would be enough for guidance of a conscious person. But if we burry our conscience and intellect under-ground ? and keep searching for literal instructions in every step of our life ? neither the Qur?an nor any amount of hadis collection would suffice us.

Now let me reverse your challenge and show you why blind faith on these so called ?hadis? books could be dangerous. Take the example of below verse

46 And test the orphans until whenever they mature for marriage. Then if you notice right (guidance) in them, then hand over their wealth to them - and do not consume it excessively or suddenly lest they (should) grow up. And whoever happens to be rich so he should refrain, and whoever happens to be poor then let him consume (it) with due fairness. Then whenever you hand over their wealth to them - take witness on them and Allah suffices as an Accountant.

(My personal translation ? cross checking is recommended)

Any sensible person who reads this verse would see that there is an ?underlying assumption? in the above verse that there is a certain age when a person mature enough for marriage ? and according to the above verse the same age is also the age when a person is matured enough to take responsibility of his wealth. And if we apply our God-gifted common sense it is clear that under no circumstances that age can be can be 9 years.

But in spite of the above, many so called hadis and sunnah followers would argue that our Prophet married Aysha when she was 9 years old and hence child marriage is legitimate. When they propose this argument they seldom think that ? Allah never promised to preserve the life story of the Prophet (beyond what is available in Qur?an) ? and hence it is possible that this specific piece of information (i.e. the age of Aysha at the time of marriage) was recorded incorrectly in books of sirat ? which historians agree were compiled 100+ years after the death of Prophet. Even in today?s age of transparency and openness gossip and falsehood can spread like hellfire ? then isn?t it possible that 1000+ years ago when there was no formal marriage register ? misinformation could spread, especially when such a misinformation helps justify prevalent malpractices? Since we cannot rule-out the possibility of such corruption in hadis and books of sirat ? are these literature reliable enough to overrule our God-gifted common-sense?

I neither call myself a Quranist, nor a hadis rejector ? but my limited study of Qur?an and hadis has given me the conviction that following my common sense while reading the book of Allah is the best way to understand its true meaning. If you want to use the ?Hadis literature? as a supporting tool ? I personally would not call you a deviant ? as long as you are true to your conscience and intellect. But if you or anyone for that matter decides to bury his senses of right and wrong in favor of interpretation of so called scholars of hadis / sunnah or even the Qur?an - that to me ? is clearly a path of error ? no matter which brand of Madhhad or school of thought you claim to follow.

May Allah guide us all to the straight route.

                                Regards,
                                Arman
