    Skipping is different than making something disappear. Skipping doesn't mean that it is not there. The 13th full-moon (not month) is simply ignored for the purpose of counting to automatically adjust the lunar cycle with the seasons.

    How on earth do you ignore something, how about the other things associated with it, say you skip counting two weeks associated with the 13th moon -which you must ignore if you ignore the 13th moon and what happens to all them people born in that period, what year will they be in?

    You still haven't showed or proved that there is a better or more universal system for timing.

    I disagree here- more and more countries are choosing the present system in the world and i agree with their selection also.

    No just skip counting the "full-moon" event.

    On the other hand, if you were born on February 29th then your birthday would happen every four years. )

    I know that there is no calendar system. There is only a universal timing system for timing the hunting restriction, the abstinence and the feast. This is all.

    The Hindu calendar that you are describing is similar to the sectarian baseless and useless lunar-calendar which is completely different than what is in the great reading. You haven't been paying attention. No one has ever "imposed" what I found in the great reading. It is the best system and as such, it doesn't need to be imposed and will remain true regardless of what people do or not do.

    The god clearly tells us that the count given in 936-37 has nothing to do with fighting (see also 2217). It has to do with violating what the god has restricted (937). The god clearly tells us in 51 and 595-96 that we should not hunt while we are restricted. It cannot be any clearer.

    No, the great reading is not only about people. The great reading makes it clear how people are only a small part in the big scheme of things. Don't be so self-centered. We are only here to serve the god just like everything else. We serve the god by doing what you said and by also taking care of other creatures and not corrupting the earth. This is why the god made us leaders in this earth. No good leader thinks that it is all about "me".

    Again, the challenge still stands. Please show a better and more universal system for timing and demonstrate how it is better and simpler. How hard can this be?

          The year is marked by the summer sosltice. So it is the days between the summer solstices. This will remain true without ever needing to add a leap year or any adjustments every some hundred years as with the present system.

                    How about metric time?

                    . That means that a year will now become a kiloday, a month will be a hectoday and a week will become a decaday. That means there will now be 1000 days to a kiloday (year) instead of the normal 365. As 365 is hardly metric, each day will now be broken up into decidays, centidays and millidays instead of hours, minutes and seconds. There will therefore be 86.4 seconds to a milliday, 14.4 minutes to a centiday and 2.4 hours to a deciday. Well fine so far, but what about our weeks and months? For it to be metric, there will have to be 10 days to a decaday, 10 decadays to a hectoday and 10 hectodays to a kiloday. There will be nearly one and a half weeks to a decaday, The hectoday (month) will be over 3 times longer and the kiloday (year) will be 2.74 of our present year. This works out well as instead of having just 4 seasons a year we will have 10 seasons to a kiloday, keeping it in line with the French metric policy.

                    So if your day starts at 9 am under the old system then it will start at 3 decidays 75 centidays under the metric system. When you finish work (normally 5.30 pm) it will be 7 decidays 29 centidays meaning you would only have worked 3 decidays 54 centidays, sounds good doesn?t it? It?s even better when you convert it to age. If you are 40 years old at the moment, you will become only 14.6 kilodays old. That means you will be able to buy alcohol at 7.66, get married at 6, graduate from high school at 6 and a half. There is a downside of course. If a man?s life expectancy is 75 at the moment, that will become 27.37, not so good. Each President would have to face re-election every 1.46 kilodays (now that sounds better). Instead of saying ?be there in 5 minute? you would have to say ? be there in 3.47 millidays?.

                    If we then recalculate our dates we will now be in the kiloday 731.75. Sound familiar? Ever watched Star Trek? ?Captains log, star-date 731.75? rotfl

                      How calendars are made
                      Creating useful, consistent, universal units of time is much trickier than it may seem. Though the day (sunup to sundown) seems like an intuitive basic unit at first glance, its length varies depending on where you are in the world and what time of year you find yourself in. Moreover, counting days is not very useful for measuring large units of time most of us, especially in urban environments, need to work with larger blocks like months and years.

                      Following the movements of celestial bodies is a pretty good way to mark time unlike crops, animals, and human bodies, the movements of the sun, the moon, and the stars are consistent, long-term, easy to track, and unaffected by natural disasters.

                      The sun and the moon each provide certain advantages and disadvantages for calendar-making. A lunisolar system tries to combine solar and lunar systems to achieve the advantages of both.

                      Solar calendars are used in most of the industrialized world today. The ancient Egyptians and the imperial Romans both used variations of the system that we use; in fact, many of our month's names are borrowed from the Romans. Solar calendars track the movement of the sun across the sky, in a path that astronomers call the ecliptic.

                      Such a calendar is keyed almost exactly to the movement of the earth around the sun in space, creating a convenient link between the calendar and the seasons. (I say "almost exactly" because the earth does not take a nice, even number of days to revolve around the sun, and systems need to be put into place to get them back in synch.)

                      Advantages Accurate with regard to the seasons in the northern hemisphere, July will always take place in the summer. Relatively accurate over the long term, especially if your culture knows how to mess around with intercalary days.
                      Disadvantages Most people have never heard of an ecliptic and wouldn't know how to follow the sun across one. (In other words, the average person cannot simply glance up and know what day it is; a solar calendar needs to be maintained by professional priests or astronomers.) Also, a straight-up solar calendar might be accurate enough for the length of a generation or two, but elaborate systems of leap years, leap minutes, and leap seconds need to take up some of the slack over the course of centuries.
                      Lunar calendars, such as the Muslim calendar, count months ("moon"ths) by the phases of the moon.

                      Advantages An easy, intuitive system a lunar month is a convenient and easily-visible way to track time.
                      Disadvantages A lunar month is almost exactly 29? days, meaning it doesn't divide up neatly into sunup-sundown days, and thus the beginning of a new lunar month is not perfectly predictable. Thirteen lunar months make a year of a little over 354 days, which does not match the solar year of 365? days. Therefore the months "slide around" throughout the year. (This why Ramadan does not always take place in the same season.)
                      The best of both worlds?
                      Lunisolar calendars are an attempt to combine the best of both systems by using lunar months and inserting "leap months" (what astronomers call intercalary or embolismic months) every several years to keep the seasons in synch. The ancient Babylonians used a lunisolar calendar, which was eventually incorporated into the Jewish calendar with very similar names for the months.

                      Many very ancient calendars -- including that of the pre-Jewish Israelites and the ancient Chinese -- were purely lunar, but became lunisolar to make record-keeping easier.
