As a Christian, I would never even attempt to answer that question, that should be answered by someone who knows Islam well. All I will say is, as a personal opinion, every time and every amount of times you pray to God must be important and must come from the heart. Just repeating prayers without thinking about them is no different from not praying at all. (Just my personal opinion and I hope I have not offended anyone).

        Yes.

        Check 11114, 1778, 2238, 629 and 4103

4103 So when you are done with the contact prayer, then remember God while standing, or sitting, or on your sides. When you are relieved, you shall hold the contact prayer; the contact prayer for those who acknowledge is a scheduled book/timed ordinance.

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

Well, there is defintiely a minimum. If you think the minimum is 5, then you shouldnt pray less than 5. I see nothing wrong with praying more, but it is not ordained in the Quran. Right now I think it's 3 times, but I am still researching.

On time, I might answer by asking this

What about places like Russia, Scandinavia... Alaska, where the summer sun shines without cessation for a part of the time and, in the winter, the reverse is true? (It doesn't shine at all for a time.)

The bottom line in the Qur'an is this "Pray at the ends of the day and into the night."
While it is true that there are other times at which prayers may be said, with all things accounted for, the point is fairly self-evident in that verse.

When religion is stripped of its humanity and becomes a robotic routine, it is also stripped of its spirit.
If the point of the message is to liberate, how can we do any better than to hear it in a light of liberation?

                      peace,

                      AQ=al quran

Is time for performing salat important?

AQ seems to devote some content to discussing timing of the regular/timed salat/bond, however, a little discussed point can be found in this forum and at the end of this article http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/slw.htm

NB an important issue that I have only begun to study is that all the "verses"/signs/ayatin which refer to a time for slw are addressed to the messenger in the Arabic singular (unlike other commands, such as "fasting"/abstinence/sawm), thus may not be applicable to everyone. This for example, may solve the problem of unworkable sun-based schedules in northern countries, e.g. Sweden/Norway during some parts of the year. Also, for orbiting astronauts in space. Therefore, it has been suggested that the timing systems described for slw are meant to be taken as an example, not that they should be applicable to everyone everywhere. Thus, instead of morning & evening, it would be at the start of the working day and at the end (implied in 245, whatever that may be for each individual. This aspect of this article will be updated as soon as I have researched it thoroughly.
Please note that 2185, abstinence is only upon those who are able to witness the month. No such clause exists for salat.

I haven't completed study of the above aspect, but may be worth researching.

Is the number of salat important?

I am not aware of AQ promoting style over substance, or, quantity over quality. However, all that it says about "salat/bond" is of course, worthy of study, e.g
                      http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/quran_on_salat.htm
