War? If someone is threatening you with physical force, you should respond in defense. In an ideal world, these things could be worked out. Yet, even the first muslims had to defend themself in the first years after the revelation.

People cannot defend themselves from a bomb landing on their homes or their childrens' schools. People cannot defend themselves from being forced out of their homes and living in sickness and poverty. Women cannot defend themselves from men forcing into their homes and raping them whilst their husbands are at gun point and are forced to watch (yeah this kinda stuff happens in some places including the Congo).
Even in cases where the person can defend themself, what did they do to deserve war in the first place? Defense isn't easy. Living in fear isn't easy.

Poverty is not always preventable, but can be remedied with hard work in a developed land. I have seen this myself. Third world countries aside. For these countries also do other atrocities and as it is said, Allah does not change their circumstance until they change themself.

How about the children born into poverty? What did they do to deserve that?

Asalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

It sounds like it could come out of the Qur'an or some hadith.. yet, it was from a friend.

"All the Good that comes to us, is from God. All the bad that befalls us, is a chastizement from God for our former bad ways to spare us that same length of time in the fire."

        Just wanted to share it.

        Peace

Everything good that happens to you (O Man) is from God, everything bad that happens to you is from your own actions". (Quran 479).

        peace

nws.. sis.. seems you have a chip on your shoulder or some issue.

I will support my statements. A woman should not be alone in a bad neighborhood, period that is asking for trouble. ( I say this as a brother of three sisters and would fight for all three against any aggressor, it was my duty as a brother. )

Poverty.. yes. If the child's father and mother are not working hard to provide at least basic meals, then the child suffers by proxy of the parents.

I grew up with next to nothing, just enough to eat and nothing more. Yet my father busted his butt for that.

And I said do not bring up third worlds, because the governments there as I understand have botched things up and the citizens are suffering by proxy as the child is suffering by proxy of their parents.

I was told at one point, as I believe, civilization starts at the home. Government should see their citizens as children, as a mother sees her own children. Yet, what do you see instead? Corruption and Greed.

Afridi, Asalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

Thank you for finding that for me, may Allah forgive me for not knowing Al-Quran as much as I should. My friend may have heard it from a muslim and forgot the source himself.

This is the second post I have made with the best of intents, and had it dragged through the mud. I wonder as to those here in the forum at times.

Care to argue with the Qur'an now, nws? If so, you are seriously in error.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder. Just having a discussion with you if you do not mind.
Rape can happen anywhere. It is not the woman's fault. I read a case study for psychology where a women was raped and killed at her doorstep and the neighbours were aware of this but were afraid to call the police. Even young children are molested. It doesn't mean that the child is being punished by God through molestation.
The child suffers because of the parent's actions, not as a punishment from God.
From these 2 examples and even 3rd world problems and war, we can see that they are all caused by man.

What you are saying and what the Quran is saying are 2 different things.
You said that when bad things happen to us it is a chastisement from God.

I do not mind a conversation at all..

from my friend, it was a nice idea.. meaning, the suffering we go through is a lessening of suffering in the next life. Which is one good way of looking at things.

second, what he said and the intent, I would think behind the word's of the Qur'an, point to the same idea. All the befalls us is from God on account of our deeds. Either singularly or Ummah-wide.

Was this woman a muslim who was slain? Were her neighbors muslim?

If not, then that is beyond the scope of my discussion. I can not speak for the unrighteousness of the unbelievers.

                    Actual verse is

Whatever bad comes that is because of us. It means it is according to law of Nature.
Allah has created "the man" with distinguishing power of good and bad.The man also has been given discretionary power to adopt good or bad which is not bestowed to any other creature.

                    • Poison is bad but food is good but we can choose anyone with our own will.
-Fire burns (a property created by Allah) but it is our will if we put our hand in it or not.If we put our hand in it ,it will definitely burn. This action of burning you can attribute to Allah because it is according to Law of nature.

                    Regards

I do not mind a conversation at all..

Cool. I hope you did not think I was arguing with you. I just couldn't agree with the quote due to the examples I gave and wanted to know your views.

from my friend, it was a nice idea.. meaning, the suffering we go through is a lessening of suffering in the next life. Which is one good way of looking at things.

That is a nice way of looking at it. If we keep our faith in God during the times of our suffering, then God will spare us suffering in the hereafter. If we learn from the punishment of our evil deeds then it will stop us from repeating these same sins that would lead us to hellfire.
So, in my opinion, the word 'ALL' from the second sentence should be removed. God has created laws to protect us from harm but unfortunately not everyone is a believer so there will be people who will cause us to suffer for no reason.

second, what he said and the intent, I would think behind the word's of the Qur'an, point to the same idea. All the befalls us is from God on account of our deeds. Either singularly or Ummah-wide.

Of course, one's evil actions can cause suffering to many people wether through that person's own actions (eg a corrupt government) or from God (eg God can get rid of a large group of people if they disbelieve and sin such as the story of Noah and Lot)

Was this woman a muslim who was slain? Were her neighbors muslim?

If not, then that is beyond the scope of my discussion. I can not speak for the unrighteousness of the unbelievers.

That is fine, it might not apply to the disbelievers.

                      Peace
