Is there any body in here that believes in the ritual salat?

Asalamu alaikum,GOOD MORNINGevery one..Yes I was just taking a quick peep,and noticed dhulqarnain's request to know who exactly are the Quran people whom also do not perform the salat..And I too have a questionPersonally ,I am leaning towards a 'Quran Only" Position,with "ritual salat" included as a part of the relgion.I am sorta viewing itas something which was taught to the early believers and has continued on up until today.Are there any others whom feel that ritual salat is a part of Islam?Just wondering..Salaams

do I believe it is a religious obligation on muslims to perform prayers a certain fixed way, so many ruku, certain words etc - NO
do I actually go to mosque a couple of times a day to pray with other muslims in the traditional manner - YES
do I pray in the traditional manner when I'm praying alone - SOMETIMES
I take that to be a balanced approach (2143)....the real challenge is not to let such matters cloud our relationship with our Creator

asdfjkIndeed. After all, Allah is most compassionate. The sin that man causes against him is forgetting Allah's sovereignity in our life. He is our sovereign God. To him alone must we glorify. When we glorify our house, our car, our wife, our children, our job, our desires, and our leisure above Allah, then we commit grievious sin. Prayer is about rememberance , and a reorientation of our life to Allah. If he has not chosen us to bestow his forgiveness and mercy upon us, we would not be inclined to remember Allah, all praise be to him! Ritualized prayer, if emphasized as the only way of remembering Allah, can lead one astray as the ritual itself can take on a glorified meaning in our hearts and minds. Making rememberence of a ritualized prayer can glorify the prayer style above Allah. We must be careful about this sad potential. Additionally, we must be careful not to make a public scene about our prayers, as this can lead to self-aggrandizement, a form of idolatry that shows Allah that we have deserved his mercy through our compliance with rituals. Allah has mercy upon whom he will. This is clear in al Quran. We cannot work righteousness, or gather credit for ourselves to earn our way to paradise. It is Allah who keeps us on the straight path. Allah is closer to us than our breath. Allah is truly God who is with us every step of our journey, all praise be upon him! Amin!
