its late here, so I apologize for a brief respnse, I can't find the verse at the moment, but if I remember rightly it urges us to sort our priorities out

I'd have had a headache from 8 hours...

Addiction is believing in the worst over the Best. Sort of associating the worst ways with the Best way; It is just the same as shirk. Unless a change in heart towards the truth and believe in the one truth there is no change possible from addiction. God fearing must enter, for shaitaan to leave. Medicine, de-addiction ways are farce!

          De-addiction

Only possible way for de addiction that Alah says is that an adict cannot possess extra money for other than his just needs.

          002.219
They question thee about strong drink and games of chance(addiction). Say In both is great sin, and utility for men; but the sin of them is greater than their usefulness. And they ask thee what they ought to spend( to de-addict ). Say spend that which is superfluous. Thus Allah maketh plain to you (His) revelations, that haply ye may reflect.

Peace be upon you Commando X,

I think you were joking about being on internet sooo long, is that correct?

Knowledge can do that In my favorite movie "MATRIX", Neo started learning knowledge (symbolized by the kung Fu he was learning) and stated "I WANT MORE!"

Just be careful not to lose your balance, the God says to beware of excesses. The God says to be patient and take your time with things. Make sure you give your physical vehicle the proper amount of sleep.

Other than that , there will be times when you stay up all night studying and pondering, that is normal for a seeker of truth.

Regarding addictions, if there is something you wan to stop, you must IGNORE the thoughts that come into your head about it. You can only focus on one thought at a time, so have some alternative thoughts ready, there are plenty thoughts in the reading(quran) thatcan replace the thoughts that come from addictions.
