    same goes, by the way.

but can't you open your mind a little bit, consider it from all angles.
i did it, believe me, i did the physical one for years and nothing, no results, no benefit, i was same old selfish, lazy bum i always was... is that what God wants? i don't think so.
so i considered all possibilities, looked at other forms of salat and saw that mental one is better.

ok for me at least. don't get me wrong, if you or anyone wants to do it physically that's ok, i just hope it's accompanied by mental of course. as long as it brings positive results. what else would be the point of salat, right?

I thought that was what this site was all about Free-Minds = Open-Minds

Can you tell me more about mental salat? Do you mean meditation of some sort?

Yeah, I won't pray like a zombie (like hadhisists) without knowing the meaning and praying in arabic! I will pray with my own language!

                  well yes )

Can you tell me more about mental salat? Do you mean meditation of some sort?

sure, meditation can be a form of salat, yes.
but it's something that affects you on the inside. i mean since it is about making a connection with God, it's the mental part which is important here, we are mental beings, not physical, this is just a vehicle for the soul, doesn't matter what color you paint the car, how you decorate it, if you park it here or there... the driver must be sober, you know what i mean. the soul must be clensed so it drives this body to good... it's our soul that will last forever, not the body, so what's the difference how one positions the body.

so salat (mental) would be about us fixing our souls to be a certain way which will lead to positive/productive results in this world, which will make us emit a certain type of energy and vibrations, which by laws of attraction will make us recieve it back after we pass on and we'd automatically adjust to higher levels of vibrations... but we call it heaven.

and it can be done through meditation. not saying it's exclusive to it, there can be other ways of course. different things work for different people. we are not robots that we should all do only 1 thing, 1 form of salat, 1 way that works for all... no such thing.

Yeah, I won't pray like a zombie (like hadhisists) without knowing the meaning and praying in arabic! I will pray with my own language!

that's great to hear ) bravo

Good for you. God understands no matter what language.

                  lol, unbelievable.
see that's what comes from not thinking, from just blindly accepting what they tell us, then you have people parroting things not knowing what they saying as if it's good...

if only they knew that in a way... even we don't speak any languages, it's just a way for us to understand each other in this world (like somebody said in another thread)... talking (in any language) is just a way of expressing thoughts, if there was another way, we'd do it, like telepathy... and that's what God understands, our thoughts, no matter what sound comes out of our mouths.

so there can't be arabic (or any other) language there because we don't have mouths, we are only souls, energy, we speak through thoughts.

I found the reasoning in your posts to be quite narrow in there scope. Your definitions of salat hung on very few verses. If you look at all occurrences of the concept in the quran, it becomes clear that salat is a much broader concept than the one you put forward & much broader than what is traditionally accepted.

There is no evidence in quran of the format we are traditionally taught, nor is there evidence of your concept of salat. While I agree that salat is to be done in the way taught by God, I don't see evidence of the incense burning theory, as it does not bring about a benefit to the society at large, which for me is a prerequisite in the establishment of salat.

Much of the confusion regarding salat stems from viewing everything in the quran being applicable all the time. People have argued that there is no abrogation in the quran & therefore none of the verses can be regarded as non applicable. I have found that different verses are applicable at different times in the development of a society. This applies to salat as well & resolves any "apparent" contradictions in the quran where the same concept is described with different instructions.

                        Peace Munzir Ali,

Yeah, I won't pray like a zombie (like hadhisists) without knowing the meaning and praying in arabic! I will pray with my own language!

First of all, there is a clear difference between Dua(prayer/supplication) and Salat(ritual worship). In other words, both Dua and Salat are acts of worship but Salat differs from Dua in that it has to be done only in a specific manner ie performing certain rituals whereas prayer is only an act of supplicating to God and does not involve rituals.

Prayer can be done in mother tongues and must be done so if it has to make sense because it is only making supplication(requests) to God which can be done only in a known language.

But Salat involves certain rituals like reciting from the scripture and burning incense, oil, food items, etc as oblation to God(ignorant and blindly following so-called muslims do not accept this as they have been brought up to believe in a fake salat). So recital of the scriptures must be done only in the language of the scripture while performing Salat.

                        Yours truly,

                        K.Vivekanandan

the Christianisation of Islam is a difficult thing to remove, if you would like to see an understanding of Salat without Christianisation, read this

                              1. Where in the Qur'an does it state that burning incense is the primary part of salat?

                              2. You have written that parts of the Qur'an have been omitted from the version we have today. What is your evidence for this claim?
