    Peace,
    Respectfully.

I believe that because non muslims back then, denied messenger Muhammad, those Muslims simply wanted or maybe they felt like making a difference between them and those that did not accept Muhammad as the messenger of God.

Christians also say ther eis no god but God and even the First Commandment says Thou Shall Not Worship Any Other god then God. Right?

So, in my eyes, the Christians back then said ther eis no god but God and Jesus is his son, at least thsoe that started up the trinity complex.
Then Muslims - or at very least those with low fear being joined with them - started saying, well, we also believ ein one God but we also believe in Muhammad being His messenger.

Today, that line is the law in sunni world. Sadly.
I always say, there is no god but God.
I believe that all prophets and messengers are the same, humans, made mistakes, fought and believed and we don't make any difference betwen them, correct?

    Peace.

I think you are right in believing that there is no other god but God, the one, the only God.

By the way, I know these are from two people.

"The second part of the decleration "Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) is His Messenger" shows its inseperable relation to the first. After acknowledging that Allah is our Master, it is necessary to know what are His Commandments, what will Please Him and what will incur His displeasure etc. For this purpose, Allah Appointed Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) as His Messenger and sent the Quran through Him.

This epically fails in explaining why ?Muhammad is God?s messenger? is part of the real shahada for many reasons, one being that Muhammad is dead and someone cannot be a messenger (or delivering God?s messages) and dead at the same time, unless you believe in Muhammad the ghost messenger.

In fact, the second shahada is actually that of the hypocrites in the chapter titled ?hypocrites?

631 When the hypocrites come to you they say ?We bear witness that you are the messenger of God.? And God knows that you are His messenger, and God bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.

Ok, fine, we need to know what God wants from us, and we come to kow through the Quran. I fail to see however how mentioning the prophet has anything to do with this.

        Right on.

He is the role model for every Muslim and without him, we would have no idea of how to conform to the truth laid down by the first part of the decleration. To believe in him as a Messenger of Allah, means to accept his authority as the representative of the Supreme Ruler and to follow his example.

Not true. So many people lived before Muhammad and didn?t even know he was coming for that matter. Stop thinking Muhammad is some gateway to heaven.

Ok, without him (or other messenger in his place) there would be no quran with us. However, the talk about him as a representative of God smells way too much like christianity and the institution of the pope.

The devil attacks once again my friend.

He is the link between the Creator and the creatures,

        LOL rotfl

therefore, to deny the second part of the decleration would be to cut off all connections with the first. The decleration that Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) is Allah's Messenger, is a proclamation of the belief in the complete and final guidance that he brought for all humanity. It is also a statement of intention to follow that guidance faithfully.

In your opinion, maybe, but God points out it?s something hypocrites would say. Not sure how that equates to following the religion faithfully?

It is amazing to see how they equate the message with the messenger. They elevate the messenger to the level of the message, and again we see how they make the prophet just like a pope, i.e. the link between creatures and God. These guys apparently put alot of faith in separations and divisions.

No kidding. They even think the sahaba (giving the benefit of the doubt all the people Bukhari thought were sahaba were real friends of the prophet and not the hypocrites that lived around him) were infallible in transmitting hadith. They also think Muhammad will co-judge with God on Judgement Day?how more stupid can you get?

This decleration prepares human beings to reflect upon Prophet Muhammad's (s.a.w.s.) teachings and encourages them to follow his path. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) summed up all the previous revelations, therefore, to follow him is to follow the teachings of all the Prophets. He is a symbol of the message of Allah, of that religion which was preached by all the Prophets.

The correct shahada is in 318 of the Quran

318 God bears witness that there is no god except He, as do the angels, and those with knowledge, He is standing with justice. There is no god except He, the Noble, the Wise.

Second of all, Muhammad doesn?t teach the Quran. He FOLLOWS IT. God is the one who teaches it according to

7516 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste.
7517 It is for Us to gather it into a compilation.
7518 So when We compile it, you shall follow its compilation.
7519 Then it is for Us to explain it.

And unfortunately, Muhammad?s example has been distorted beyond belief by Bukhari and co., who by they way were non-Arab Persian illiterates.

The focus is on the messenger, the symbol of the message, not so much the message itself.

        Got a little lost there.

The religion he was given to preach was Islam in the form of a complete system covering all aspects of material and spiritual life of mankind. He led his life according to the Commandments of Allah, and showed the Muslims the right way to lead their lives.

Factually by the Quran of course, and not the hadith which was invented 200 years or so after his demise by what can very well be his most ardent enemies.

So, when we recite the second part of the decleration, we undertake to follow the law and system shown by him.?

        No.

Yes, the prophet showed how to lead a righteous life... but that obviuosly stopped more or less as soon as he left this world.

        Correct.

Common stream muslims are indeed very good christians.

        Yup http//pressthat.wordpress.com/2007/09/06/hadith-plagiarized-from-the-bible/

What is even more bothering is that I have come across so many muslims (born muslims usually), which seem like wonderful and nice people, but they have this awkward arrogance and dangerous confidence that make them believe, and say, that they are so much better than other people (kafirs) no matter what. This is very very dangerous, as I have seen them take it for granted that they are above all others and that they have the final truth and all important answers. They cannot imagine, or accept, that they might be wrong in certain things. That's quite funny, coz to be 100% sure about something, you need perfect knowledge, and only God has perfect knowledge. So, if they are not equals to God in knowledge, then how the heck can they be so sure that they are the ones who knows the truth? Amazing.

You are very right Zulf. It is arrogance and that is why every time I make a point, although I don?t type it out, I say to myself this is true as far as I?m concerned, or as far as how God makes me see things, because I could very well be wrong in what I say. They however, talk like all the crap they say (which to anyone would logically be unstable considering how the hadith relies on Chinese whispers) is above all and the 100% truth from God, even while admitting the hadith is not from God himself?or are they (since they say it?s revelation to Muhammad)? Beats me?maybe they just can?t make up their minds.

        Peace,
        Respectfully.

I believe that because non muslims back then, denied messenger Muhammad, those Muslims simply wanted or maybe they felt like making a difference between them and those that did not accept Muhammad as the messenger of God.

        Peace.

And I also said the second statement was incorrect. The reason it is written that Muhammad IS the messenger is because he was the messenger at the time the Quran was compiled. At the same time the Quran confirms the person will die. The person cannot remain being a messenger if he can't deliver messages anymore. That's like saying Michael Jordan is a basketball player when truth tells us he isn't, but was. Now this of course is far closer to being true than Jesus is the son of God. Nevertheless both statements are false.

Meteora, that was the most beautiful answer ever to appear on this forum!
          I truly admire it.
I can see and therefore believe that if we do some more research, God willing, we will be able to unite more, God willing.
We need more people like Meteora. God bless you.

When I was a Christian minister this is what I was told by others. That the prophet Muhammad is worshipped by his followers. But I know better now that I have been reading the Qur'an. The prophet Muhammad say's that he is just a messenger and nothing else. I study Qur'an and ask myself why have I not read this great book a long time ago. I am most happy that I am studying the Qur'an now. I dont see why Muhammad should be added to the Shahada. Excuse me if there are any mispellings. I am quite new with all of this.

The only problem is that many traditional Muslims are now worshiping Muhammad just like the traditional Christians worship Jesus. Thank God for the God-aloners in both religions

It clearly developed out of insecurity and competition with Christianity. The biggest annoyance of Islam (coming from someone not born a Muslim) is the emphasis on Mohammed. Much like Christians they assure the public that all the prophets are respected, but in reality that just regard them as baby Mohammeds (like Christians only respect the Hebrew Bible as a Jesus delivery device).

I'm not sure there is one. The Gnostic bible is interesting, it just includes everything and you pick what you want to believe. hmm
