How much Zakat do I pay using quran alone?
-
It is obligatory only on those who believe in God and the Last Day and in what was revealed to Gods servant on the Day of the Criterion, the day the two armies clashed; and God is capable of all things.
In my judement this verse is about the profit of " anything " you "gain."
If you dont believe then you dont have to do it. I cannot and wont force anyone to believe. But I will obey and teach Gods commands. It is only forced on those who believe.... hypno Yes, a forced portion of what you profit. hypno hypno hypno hypno

Peace every one,
Sure,
841 And know that anything you profit, one-fifth shall go to God and the messenger, and the relatives, and the orphans, and the poor, and the wayfarer. You will do this if you believe in God and in what We revealed to Our servant on the Day of the Criterion, the day the two armies clashed; and God is capable of all things.
This verse only talks about how to share the spoils of war(booty) but not Zakat in any way. The one-fifth ie 20% of the booty is to be allocated for those mentioned in the verse and only the remaining 80% should be shared among all soldiers who participated in the war. Every one who receives his/her share of the booty has to pay Zakat @ 10%(one tenth) on this income(gain/profit). It is also corroborated by the fact that prophet Abraham paid 10% on his share of the booty as mentioned in the Torah.
2219 ........And they ask you how much they are to give, say ?The excess.? It is thus that God clarifies for you the revelations that you may think.
peace
This verse speaks of how one can determine the amount of charity(sadaqah which is not obligatory unlike Zakat) and has no relevance to Zakat.

here is a link to the submission site, which is saying it's 2.5%, because of 7024 - they say it is the only verse that refers to the percentage. It says that it is "Ma'luum" = Known. http//www.submission.org/ramadan/zakat.html
copied and pasted from submission.org...
"Whenever we receive "net income," the "known amount" of Zakat should be paid or set aside. (see 7024) This known amount as God calls it, is 2.5%. This is the ONLY "known amount" to the submitters (Muslims). This amount, 2.5% was passed down to us, generation after generation, like Salat, from the time of Abraham to our time. We must set aside 2.5% and give it to the specified recipients - the parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, and the traveling alien, in this order (2215). "so please can we discuss this and get to the bottom of it?
I understand sadaqa is the "excess" but if you are in a situation where you have more outgoings than income, how can we worl out what to give, when there is no excess? i have been making sandwiches to give to the poor, so i give food rather than money. does Zakat have to be a monetary donation or can it be food / clothes?
thanks and peace and salaams

Peace be upon you, how are you? I understand that 841 is not talking about zakat, but rather a tax, or dues that are obligatory weather one believes it to be only from war only or from anything you profit from war, labor, charity, or watever. How would we explain the fine/or jiza? And amount? There is no proof in quran that zakat is 10%.when you give more than what you are requred to give that is charity or zakat or whatever.... And that would be whatever you give out of that 80% leftover if not the whole 80%. While the first 20% of profits is a fine that will be spent willingly or unwillinly.
To my understanding it was 10% at first the time of Abraham them, now it has increased to 20% since the Day of the criterion. The day the two armys clashed. Peace bro. peace

Do not waste excessively. If you havent profited and you stll want to give to the point of taking a loss, you can give a little but not excessively even thoe you are not required to give if you havent profited anything to my knowleadge.. There is no harm if you turn away to seek a mercy from your Lord. And those who waste excessivly are brothers to the devil. Zakt can be money, food, cloths,it could even be shelter, ect... peace

Ch 8 and 20% is entirely about waging war, 10% and 2.5% is not in the book, no fixed amount. It?s left to each individual.

Show me the verse which says that Zakat is 10% in context.

Peace all, no one can say that I am wrong. The spoils of war are only for God and His messenger. And not for the others. While 20% of "anything" you profit from war or whatever are for God and His messenger and the relatives, orphans, ect....according to my understanding of 81 and 841. 81 does not say that the spoils of war are for all those mentioned in 841.
Bring your proof, if you truthful. peace

Could somebody please show me from the quran how zakaat means any kind of payment by an individual or where it means charity?
Imraan

Peace everyone,
First of all I would like to welcome TheJoker to the forum welcome
After reading some of TheJoker's posts I am becoming a fan handshake
I agree that zakaat as used in the qur'aan nowhere means charity but means purification/betterment. Salaat, sadaqat, sawm etc. result in zakaat.
As far as sadaqat/charity is concerned it is left up to the individual how much to give (keeping 1729 in mind) from the excess left after all expenses are deducted from the income.
As far as ghanimtum is concerned I agree with AW that it is not anfaal/spoils of war. Ghanimtum is anything which is obtained without hard work and the proceeds obtained by the non participants of the war from anfaal are a subset of ghanimtum because they were obtained by the non participants without any hard work. Inheritance will be another type of ghanimtum. 20% of any material benefit of the ghanimtum type goes to the government established according to the qur'aanic law.
That is my current understanding.

Can somebody give me their interpretation of 6141, because usually it is said that it talks about zaka, although that word is not even in that verse.
Thanks
-
6141 And He is the One Who initiated gardens; both trellised and untrellised; and palm trees, and plants, all with different taste; and olives and pomegranates, similar and not similar. Eat from its fruit when it blossoms and give its due on the day of harvest; and do not waste. He does not like the wasteful.
On the day of harvest( profit), give the 20%. Those are dues/tax that must be paid. And whatever you give after that is charity. O0

Dude, havent you been paying attention? Or are you just trying to erase the above posts and continue back and forth? Or do you not believe in God and the Last Day and in what was revealed to His servant on the day of the criterion. Let me refresh your memory;
- The spoils of war are only for God and the messenger. ( 81) That means 100% of the spoils of war are for God and His messenger only.
- The spoils of war are not for all those mentioned in 841. Because 81 says they are only for God and His messenger. And that is what The God commands you to say if you are asked regarding such spoils.
- 20% of anything you profit shall go to those mentioned in 841. 841 does not say 20% of "the spoils of war" shall go to God, His messenger, relatives, orhans, ect...... That is you guys false interpretation or understanding of 841. Maybey because youll so stingy and dont believe in nothin. Except lies. But 841 clearly say 20% of "anything" you profit.
