Catholic Authorized English bible mate.. the NJB..

A gate opener for me to dig further.. from there I start digging the Hebrew Tanakh, Yes mate.. I learn (some basic) Hebrew! It's actually not so distant from Arabic.. And also discover the many versions of Gospel, plus the Aramaic Peshita... (but apparently I still can't grasp Aramaic) -[

Well done! bravo I have read the bible (obviously), an English translation of the Quran and an English translation of the Tanakh. Also the gospels of Thomas, Barnabas, Mary, etc. Makes very interesting reading.

You should try the Hebrew Tanakh and then Arabic Quran... you can quickly 'sense' a lot of similarity in the 'style of writings'..
Here's a simple one.. many verses in Hebrew Tanakh started with VA YOMER (Hebrew And Spoke) while in the Quran many of the verses also started with WA QOLU (Arabic And Spoke)..

The great thing of being a non-sectarian (some called it an agnostic ) is I can read books from many religions without the fear of succumbed into 'apostasy'.. laugh

The problem with the bible is that there are so many versions even in English, and they all say something different. Even the "Lord's Prayer" which is quite an important part of the New Testament is different in different versions. In one version I have read (baptist version), the whole meaning of the prayer is changed.

                          Peace,
                          Respectfully.

I have never dated in my entire life and i'm 31-year-old-virgin.
I simply slipepd that part and asked God directly to give me a woman who follows The Quran alone and who wants to marry me.
My prayers were answered within two months.
Thank God, Glory be to our God.

                          Peace.

                              Here's another one then..
"Lord's prayer" in hebrew, from Shem Tov's Mattiya..

                              Avinu Sevashamayim.
                              Yet kadosh shem kha.
                              Tahvoo Malkutoo kha.
                              Ye'aseh retsone kha.
                              Ba'aritz ka'ashr na'asah va shamayim.
                              Ten-lanu haiyom lechem hukeinu.
                              U'selah lanu et ashmateinu, ka'ashr.
                              Solehim anahnu la'asher ashemu lanu.
                              Ve'al-tevieinu lidei massah.
                              Ki-'im hatzileinu min-hara.

This thing just came to my mind..
Soleh / Uselah - root word 'slh' means forgiving in hebrew..

There are many occurrences of "Soleh" (deed) in the Quran, as of now my understanding of (quran arabic) "soleh" is "righteous", perhaps "Soleh" word in the Quran does actually mean "forgiving".

Verily! those who believe, and those who are Jews, and Sabeans, and Christians - Whosoever believed in God and the Last Day and does SOLEH - there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.
                              Quran 569

I completely agree with that. Also I believe that you must forgive yourself too.

Just out of interest. Would you date someone from a different religion, faith or denomination?

Normal women are preferable to religious women.

I voted yes. Though I'd like him not to be "spiritual" and all that airy fairy nonsense. I'm a monotheist, but I'm not into mysticism.

I couldn't agree more. I've heard of quite a few relationships ending badly because one of the partners became insanely religious.

I would date someone of different religion.

From my point of view, I have seen some inter-faith relationships working out and others ending very badly. So I think it really depends on their personality, level of tolerance and upbringing more than their belief system.
