Take not jews and christians as your friends.

New here, didn't know you existed, thought i was the only few people who didn't believe in these so called hadiths. Damn innovations that have corrupted muslims.

O, you who believe , do not take Jews and Christians as awliya?. They are awliya? to one another, and the one among you who turns to them is of them. Truly, God does not guide wrongdoing folk
- There is a verse in an-nisa that goes something like, men who make mischief for women slay them. I'll try to get a reference for it.

"Hadoo" and "Nasara" are describing two certain types of people, I do not see the God making sects legitamate religions. Perhaps the Jews and Christians are used as metaphors to describe these two groups.

This might help in understanding the verse.
Awliya is "allies" (not friend, which is "Sadeeq" in Arabic and has been used in 2461) .
You can study this clear use of "Wali/Awliya" in the following 2107, 2257, 368974, 2922, 476, 727, 872, 1316,

My understanding of this verse is that you are not to seek protection via a title (eg You are saved if you convert to insert religious ideology here ). Verse 2257 states "God is the 'awliya' of the believers."

Here's another translation to that verse, that may help a bit...
551 O you who believe, do not take the Jews and the Nazarenes as allies, for they are allies to one another; and whoever takes them as such from amongst you is one of them. God does not guide the wicked people.

I think the word ally works better.
Here are some relevant that allow friendship with anyone who does not fight you.
GOD does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. GOD loves the equitable.
GOD enjoins you only from befriending those who fight you because of religion, evict you from your homes, and band together with others to banish you. You shall not befriend them. Those who befriend them are the transgressors -

'You Who Believe' means those among the mankind who believe in the unseen truth the "creator almighty", as the saviour and protector. Jews and christians are referred to in that ayat are only a few examples to make us understand that we shall not take the "title-lovers" such as sabieen, mumins, jews, christians and so on as our allies - for god knows who they are and god admonishes that we do not know about them.
