Some are so conditioned to accept the Hadiths that they can only imagine chaos.

I am also reassured I?m on a better path (ironically) by this webpage. Every verse cited indicated no extension to the Quran and some of the arguments are truly absurd. For example, ?can I pray Salaah naked?? This Muslim brother never took Quran 722, 726, or 2430 into consideration. Some are so conditioned to accept the Hadiths that they can only imagine chaos.

I have a little blog at http//alithoughts.wordpress.com/

I myself came across that website, answering-islam.org, before stumbling on submission.org and finally free-minds.org. It helped me ask the hard questions and it had the opposite of the author's intended effect, lol.
Anyway, welcome to the forum. sun welcome

I was born into a Lebanese Shi?a family. After realizing that the belief in 14 Infallibles contradicted the Quran, I renounced Shi?a Islam for Islam. I came to recognize that the organization of sects was simply man-made and that accepting the Hadiths would be to simply follow in the steps of my forefathers. Ali ibn Talib was a human and so was Abu Bakr. The Sunni and Shi?a resurrect conflicts that should be left in the past.

With a new view on Islam, I realized that the Quran is about the present-day and future (not restricted to seventh-century Arabia). Of course, we don?t have all the answers and future Muslims may gain a better understanding of the Quran.

After studying over what the reform-minded scholars have said about the Hadiths, I concluded that true Islam was for me. My Father and sister are quite liberal and had no regard for the Hadiths in the first place. My Mother and I were much more conservative but both of us ended up rejecting the Hadiths. For my Mother, the veneration of God made much more sense than the veneration of Ali.

I am also reassured I?m on a better path (ironically) by this webpage. Welcome sun

What happened to you is huge. The shia's hold is very tight especially in south Lebanon. How could you break away from it? I know that the brainwashing starts from a very early age in shia sect. How about the community around you? Do they know about your leaving the sect? What about NasrAllah? He is worshiped there even by non-shia. Do you still feel the same towards him even though you broke away from the shia?

peace

I am new to this forum too! I have not introduced myself properly yet! OOps -X May as well do that now! I'm British, from a non-religious family background and I converted (reverted?!) to Islam in 2006 from "no religion". One day, shortly after converting, I made a "mini pilgrimage" to a Mosque in the City centre, and was shocked, angry and embarrassed that I was not "allowed" in! Because I am a woman, and there was "no room for women", because it was the Friday prayer which was giving "priority to Men", because Men "HAVE to pray in the mosque whereas women can pray at home...." Well.. I was standing outside the mosque crying, and a kind brother came up to me and wanted to help and gave me the phone number of a Sister who does Quran Study Circles and "mentors" the new converts. I went there and there were 5 women altogether. This is a Quran Study Circle with a dozen books and not a single Quran in sight! "because we mere mortals are too inferior to even dare to try to understand the Qur'an, we just keep it on the top shelf" So anyway, we were discussing why the prayer is so important and what the benefits of it are and really enthusing over the wonder and power of prayer. Then the prayer time came and 3 of them said "we are not praying today because of our monthlies"

So I went away with a lot more questions and All praise to Allah s.w.t that I came across the Submission and Free-minds sites and Islamicity's Qur'an Reader Search function. I really started to get some decent information, and found out how to double check the Qur'an for myself and was then able to study it in more depth, before the Hadith people were able to totally confuse me!

So thanks for listening and Greetings of Peace to everyone. May Allah be Glorified.

When are these people going to realise that men and women are equal. The so called "monthlies" are quite natural and do not make a woman "unclean", in fact it is a purifying action.

Very true. We also should be able to pray to God at any time. Why would God allow something to happen to women which means they cannot worship for about a 1/4 of their lives? It's ridiculous when you actually look at the whole argument.

Thanks be to God UmAlawi, you were able to use your head and get out while you can. I hope you settle in the forum and continue to study and gain knowledge from the Qu'ran.

Exactly! Men and women, the blind and those with sight all are included in God's design so why should any group be exempt from praying or fasting its only these people who make pathetic claim.

That is true. People, especially women, should not listen to them and go and pray anyway.

I am a woman and I know the feeling so I stand agaist such nonsense including advocating to to the muslim blind people that they are exempt from fasting as they do not fall into a category of those who wittnessed the moon of Ramadan.
