Since God Is Omniscient And Omnipotent At The Same Time...
-
peace
hmm, interesting question, really )
but then i might ask, can you say a word and not hear it yourself?
all information STARTS with God, so i don't know how he could decide not to know it. since God doesn't have a beginning or end, He is all there is, and all information, worlds, stars, us, energies, frequencies... all is ... IN God, in a way.
you'd have to ask yourself, where did that information originate from, and what is information to begin with, what is a thought, what's it look like, where does it come from... where is it stored, who put it there, how did a thought start...
and since we kinda live inside God, we can't escape Him, nor can any kind of information escape God seing it's inside God... nothing can be outside of God, how would it get there to begin with

Why would he? Can we accurately think what he thinks or thinks like?
Why wouldnt he?
There is, also, no word for either concept in the quran.
1670 God created you, then He will take you. Some of you will continue to the most miserable age so that he will not know anything after knowledge. God is Omniscient (Aaaleemun), Omnipotent (qadeerun).
-
Why wouldnt he?
Fallacious; burden of proof is on you.

Not a very good translation, research ayn-lam-miim -root of aaleemun (knowledge). Qadeer, the root is qaf-dal-ra. The translation you are using doesn't even translate qadeer in 4229 for example. Heck, not a single translation I have seen translates this word.

OK...
Why would he?
Can we accurately think what He thinks or thinks like?
Are you questioning God's omnipotence? You see, if you say that God CANNOT block out a piece of information, then this would technically mean that He IS NOT omnipotent - dont you think? Now, I know this is not easily answereable, hence you answered as followsWhy would he? Can we accurately think what he thinks or thinks like?
Such 'answers' dont answer the question, rather, they show that you have no real answer. Think about the question again, and then let me know what your answer is.

I assume you mean 'doesnt translate the word correctly'.
From PRL
Ayn-Lam-Miim = to mark/sign/distinguish, creations/beings, world, science/learning/knowledge/information, aware/know. By means of which one knows a thing, hence it signifies world or creation, because by it the Creator is known. alim (pl. ulama) - one who is learned/wise or knows.
Qaf-Dal-Ra = to measure/decree/determine/stint/straiten, to have power, to be able, a measure, means, ability, a term/decree, doom, destiny, measured, decreed.
qudrun - knowledge, law, value, power, measure, majesty, ability, glory, honour, standard, limit, destiny. taqdir - knowledge, law, measuring decree, judgement, ordering. maqduran - made absolute, executed. miqdar - due measurement, definite quantity. qidr (pl. qudurun) - cooking pot. qaddara - to make possible, prepare, devise, lay plan, facilitate. muqtadir - powerful, able to prevail. So where is the problem with the translation that I used?
BTW the translation that I used (QRT) translated 'Aaaleemun' in 492 as 'knowlegeable'.
What's the problem with4229 From among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the creatures He spreads in them. He is able to gather them, if He wills.

Are you questioning God's omnipotence?
Nice straw man. Like I said, just because God has the power, doesn't mean he HAS to use it.
You see, if you say that God CANNOT block out a piece of information, then this would technically mean that He IS NOT omnipotent - dont you think?
No, it doesn't fit with YOUR definition of omnipotence. God's not tied down by anything.
Such 'answers' dont answer the question, rather, they show that you have no real answer. Think about the question again, and then let me know what your answer is.
Another straw man.
Sorry, the quran says to say about about God what we don't know. So, I'd rather not conjecture.

I get your point.
Another straw man.
how so?
Sorry, the quran says to say about about God what we don't know. So, I'd rather not conjecture.
Aren't you the one who says that we should use our God-given brains, thinking skills, reason, intellect, etc.?
-
I get your point.
Aren't you the one who says that we should use our God-given brains, thinking skills, reason, intellect, etc.?
Absolutely. I am not suggesting that we shouldn't ask questions-- even about God. Heck, Abraham the leader of mankind questions resurrection, contemplates whether the God is the sun, etc. My point is, you have to base it on SOME evidence. I am not suggesting that you are not asking good questions, I am just saying be careful-- that's all. peace
We can't resort to,
'prove God exists.. No, you prove that God doesn't exist' kinda logic.

So I need evidence first before I ask questions? What's the point of asking?
Besides, do you realize that there is no 'evidence' needed at all for my question - only for answering. We can't resort to,
'prove God exists.. No, you prove that God doesn't exist' kinda logic.
We COULD, but this is not what we are doing.
BTW, you dont have a straightforward answer to the Q, do you?
-
Peace,
There is no way to prove either until we are dead - and even then, if he doesn't, we are not going to know.
Sure, there's no absolute way for us to prove the existence of a Supreme Creator, but the universe itself implies this idea. The Qur'aan gives certain arguments to prove the existence of Allah. According to Islaamic scholars
Firstly, it refers us to the physical world which shows great order and arrangement, works according to laws, and where everything has a set purpose in the whole scheme of things. There is also immense beauty in nature which attracts man's heart. Science is discovering more and more of these characteristics of the world all the time. So behind this highly purposeful and beautiful working of nature must be One, single Intelligence of great beauty and attraction.
Secondly, the Quran tells us about the close and deep connection between God and the inner nature of every person. There is an in-built desire in each and every person to search for something higher than oneself, and when in difficulties a person instinctively wants to call upon a Hidden Power to help him.
Thirdly, and most convincingly, Prophets and men of God appeared in every nation in the world and showed their people the reality of God through their teachings and works. Just as most of us learn about science not by making all the discoveries ourselves, but by accepting the work and evidence of those who devote themselves to the study of science, similarly the proof of the existence of God is provided by the lives of the great luminaries whom God sent all over the world for this very purpose.
Peace,
Ahmad

...couldn't he decide not to know something, or block out a piece of imformation?
If he couldnt do that, wouldnt it mean that He is not omnipotent? Likewise, if he did this, wouldnt this mean that He is not omniscient?
What do you think?
He can.. by creating an illusion Isn't that what we are in this world? I mean... God, the source of all the information, All knowing is closer to us than our jugular vein.. So all this information about everything is closer to us than our own body.. and yet we do not know.. Isn't that what's quran is about? To REMIND us? You can remind only something we already know. HOW do we know? Maybe by being part of that which is God, we do know.. Just being in the physical body has made us to forget it all? D
So maybe the reason creating all this illusion around us is for God to actually EXPERIENCE Himself as all knowing. Because if there is no "not knowing" how do you know you are "all knowing" ? I've heard people who had near death experiences saying that the moment they merge into God or whatever you call it, they knew everything. All the questions were answered at once. Everything made sense to them.. and when they came back they forgot again.. the only thing they did remember was that once they knew everything
