I take my understanding from al-zunn (translated as suspicion here), which means to guess, conjecture, etc..
It is, also, the opposite of 'knowledge', in quranic terms (6148, 532.

Perhaps, if suspicion is unjustified. But sometimes, you either see something is amiss, or get a gut feeling that something is wrong, or suspicious about a person. I don't see why it would be wrong to check it out.
If the suspect is guilty, the investigation would have been worth it. If the suspect was not, he/she would be proven innocent, and would not be suspected any more.
That's what I think.

I think 'much' suspicion here refers to excessive suspicion, perhaps without cause.
What is the Arabic word used here? What are the roots, and the connotation of those words.
I don't know Arabic nor do I have the time to find out from the root list at studyquran.org what those words may possibly mean. Are there any Arabic speakers/ experts here who can shed some light on this?Peace
