    Peace be upon you,

i was wondering if anyone who knew arabic could help me.

in 1778, it says (according to the translation) that we should observe the Quran at dawn.

does it say that we should recite it? (or just read it?)

A simple fact is quoted therein that after true dawn Qur'aan is witnessed by many many people. Next line will further clarify it

And in the wee hours of the night, for reason, you the Messenger remain awake with the Qur'aan, this is an additional time-bound assignment for you alone.

May be it is near that your Sustainer Lord may revive/return you to the Place/Abode of Glory and Praise.

The word "Quran" capitalised implies a title, a proper noun.

Is this its meaning in Classical Arabic?

1778 Aqimi alssalata lidulooki alshshamsi ila ghasaqi allayli wa qur-ana alfajri inna qur-ana alfajri kana mashhoodan.

Qurana al fajri = the reading of dawn/the dawn reading. It does not say "al quran al fajri", but "qurana al fajri". The messenger (and perhaps we as well, as we are told that he is a good example for us 3321. Note the usage of the singular form and the messenger/messengers in general being talked about in 1776-77) is told to do the dawn reading (i.e. reading the quran/reading at dawn).

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

              Root

Words from this Root in the Grand Qur'aan
              a) Total occurrences 88
              b) No of constructions 24
The basic perception infolded in the Root is to collect together a thing at one place/point. It thus changes the scattered/separated/spread position of a thing into a collective whole. " " means that the she-camel became pregnant. What is pregnancy? Why she became pregnant? What act made her pregnant? ...............

Why don't you guys see similar constructions like this phrase?

If Ahsan al-hadith = the most beautiful (from among) the hadith

then quran al-fajri = declaration of the dawn

                So the ayah would read

                Aqimi alssalata establish salat
lidulooki alshshamsi for the decline of the sun
ila ghasaqi allayli to the darkness of the night
wa qur-ana alfajri and the declaration of the dawn
inna qur-ana alfajri kana mashhoodan verily the declaration of the dawn is witnessed.

qurana al fajri means Alqur'aan at fajr.

No it doesnt. There is no "al quran" in the entire verse. It means "the dawn reading" or "the reading of dawn". Take yawn al deen", for example. It means "day of requital". The "al" is only in front of the second word ("fajr" and "deen", respectively), not in front of the first one ("quran" and "yawm", respectively). Comepare this to "al masjid al haram", "al salat al wusta", etc.

Pl try to find the difference between the two, , and , , it will make you clear. The "al" of the second word automatically makes the first word definite. In , both nouns will tally in all respects.
