A significant line from that link

"... if it was not known by the people who lived and wrote from that period, and if it could not even qualify as a viable city during the time of Muhammad, it certainly could not have been the centre of the Muslim world at that time. How then can we believe that the Qur'an is reliable??....?

Because the Quran says nothing of these events! That would be a bit like saying if St Peter isn't buried under Vatican City how do we know Jesus existed.

            Peace,
            Respectfully.

The most sad thing about it is this, most people have no clue what that place is and most of us who know what it is, are a minority and therefore unable to explain it to the majority.
            Time will tell, God willing.

            Peace.

              Brothers and Sisters,

I read with interest all points, and must comment on some fallacious assumptions which are the cause of the entire debate.

The only time Mecca is mentioned in Qur'an refers to a victory, and not "the first sanctuary." The first sanctuary, 396, is at Baka'a, and while the sects say Baka'a sound exactly like Mecca, and are thus one and the same, both the Qur'an, historical facts, as well as basic common sense, are all against this blatantly false assumption.

If I correct, to Allah is the glory for guidance, and if I am wrong, I apologize, and would appreciate being corrected, with proof.

              Salamun Alaikom

What do we actually know about Mohammed?

Thanks for sharing. I think that the research community is slowly coming to the realization that the great reading is the best source we have on this and they are finally starting to catch up with us.

                  Peace,

                    Brothers and Sisters,

I have since been proven wrong on what I last posted, to which I am grateful, for showing me I was indeed wrong.

The 1st House of Allah is the Kaaba at Mecca. I will later provide proofs, specifically to one of the articles from which this debate is based.

If you saw Hasidic Jews kissing and touching this stone (which they do) as they entered 770 Eastern Parkway would you consider them idol worshippers? Because no amount of theological precedent can replace gut reaction.

I need facts please, about the stone. If any body could enlighten me please. I know in the time of the prophet muhamed PBUM the people at that time used to worship stones. All the stones where destroyed accept for that one. Why?? I get the jewish thing is more of a symbolism and a sign of respect. At the same time my friend is shia, he prays with the stone as a symbolism. It represents a piece of the holy land so that they in sense are in part praying on it by using this stone. We all know Allah does not forgive shirk! So i dont wanna commit shirk in any way.

                              Thanks for the earlier replies.

Clearly praying to Mecca and the black stone is idol worship. All you need to do is imagine to yourself what if Buddhists or Hindus all decided to pick a favourite statue and pray towards that rather than their local statues. I just don't see any difference.

In a broader sense I think we all commit shirk, which is why we all need forgiveness for our sins. I can say this because I think it is true that we all put ourselves before others and specifically before God constantly. This is in effect saying we are greater than God and is a form of worship self-worship. And if shirk is a grave sin and we do it as often as I suspect then how do Muslims think they will do enough Sharia approved deeds to get to heaven?

I'm a Christian ... just letting you know.

                                      Dear Wootah,

As a Christian, do you believe that Jesus(pbuh) is "GOD", "son" of GOD, and one of the THREE "faces" of GOD in a TRINITY?

Please elaborate on that, then we will talk about why Muslims face The SACRED MOSQUE, and NOT the black stone in Mecca during their daily prayers.

                                      Peace,
                                      Khalil

you said it. Christians are the MANIFEST idol worshipprs, putting JESUS and the WHOLY SPIRIT side by side and "equal" to GOD, worshipping them just the same alongside with GOD.

You probably going to PHILOSOPHIZE and say "no all THREE are ONE and the SAME!!!" brickwall, which is the case of an old cliche.

Anyways, Muslims, regarding facing to the SACRED MOSQUE in Mecca, follow exactly what GOD commands them to do in The Qur'aan. See 2149 and 2150. sun
