So, I believe it means that you can't get pregnant, during that "period"

I'm curious how the words "harmful" and "cleansed" are understood here, especially since "harmful" appears to be translated differently in other versions of the Qu'ran. In what way could this be harmful, unless the woman is uncomfortable?
If a woman is not uncomfortable and wants to have sex during her period, i.e. she approaches her husband rather than him approaching her, is that forbidden? Can cleansing be understood literally, or must the period be over?

I used to be so sure, it must relate only to the inconvenience to the women who have pain or discomfort or don't want sex during periods. thinking myself, such a smarty-pants I googled and was shocked to find some obscure medical research. the research showed that sex during menstruation leads to a measurable increase in some medical issue which I forget, but may have been endemetrios. Whatever it was, it was something which can render women infertile.
I was shocked! Perhaps this is simply additional proof of the Quran revealing scientific evidence long before we know it.
Although I don't know about hadiths, the idea about not praying in congregation when you are on your period is logical given women who spend time together, ie. girfriends and co-workers often get their menstrual cycle at the same time, and if someone has it "off-cycle" this can mess up their friends' cycles too and result in an extra period. I know at mosque I can smell women who have periods, and this does not mean they have not cleaned themselves, it's just nature.
So sometimes something in the Quran which is hard to understand or accept is completely amazing. But of course we don't know everything.

anyway i've read about endometriosis, but just to share with you
"Endometriosis is a disorder in which bits of tissue from the inner lining of the uterus (the endometrium) grow inside a woman's body, outside of the uterus." it affects women in the reproductive age i.e. anyone who menstruates could have it, sexual intercourse during menses doesn't necessarily make one have it as you suggested that some of your research might have shown.
but i read "It has been suggested that intercourse during menses might increase tubal activity and increase the backflow of the menstrual cycle through the tubes and thus increase the risk of endometriosis. However, there are no statistics to bear this out."
A possibility. God knows best.
I've never heard of a persons cycle messing up another persons cycle, that sounds weird.

From what I've heard, girls who spend a lot of time together, usually those who live together, have similar menstrual cycles so they are at the same stage of the cycle at the same time. But I haven't heard anything about messing up the cycle or having an extra menstrual period.

ah right well I remember being told at school that people around your age group/generation have similar timed cycles.
It sounds bizarre that it could just mess up or/and have an extra period because why would the presences of another affect the human biology.. actually I think it?s illogical but I haven?t read into it so, so I don?t know.

and your Living Seeman (Life) is mixed with Dead Eggs/Blood (Death).I believe There are Spiritual Reasons/consequences why Blood is prohibited for us Muslims.
Notice How in a "Righteous and Clean" religion Blood is avoided....
