Is these 2 verses contradictory?
It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers...
Lo! Those who believe, and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.
Criteria to be righteous from the first Ayah is to believe in Allah, Last Day, The angels, The book, and the messengers.
And the second verse says whoever believes in Allah and the LastDay and do right (excludes Angels,Book,Messengers)
Sunni explanation of the verse 62 is that were BEFORE THE PROPHET HAS COME. And they write in the bracket "Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans "
I have read some comments in this forum who says it's not necessary to believe in angels, messengers and quote AYAH 62.
But AYAH 177 says the other.Thank you!
