I live in the netherlands but in my village in turkey young girls marry unwillingly with man because of there parents. its horrible For example i knew a girl who was really pretty and she wanted to studie to become a doctor but her parents did not want to pay the money and later the a mother came to her house with a man asking her mam if her daughter could marry there son and the weird they thing about it is the daughter does not have a say in the matter.and the guy was from belgium so when they married and she took of with him to belgium al she did theren was sit at home and make dinner. when she gone to vacation she came back much matter then she was before I mean like a square.
There are many instances where people conduct irrationally. Where people are most liberal and educated and society is open yet the Rape cases are the largest there in USA!!

hey bobo Are you serouis about the muta or is it just sarcastic . And mazar I understand what you are saying about the rape cases in The USA but that is not an issue of law but rather o moral issue how they behave. I was raisen properly that is way i don`t girls herrasment or rape them. It has to do with how you think. I have respect for woman And i think everything you do to a woman toucing her i only whould do with her permission.I mean when you are young your parents will teach you wat is right and wrong but as you get older that becomes your responsibility. So if there are alot of rape charges in de usa it is not because of there is no law to flog them but because of how certain people are raised. in the usa there is much Poverty and when people live in poverty they they cant get an decent education which will lead to crimes like rape and because this people will keep on living in povertythey cant the norms & values how to interact with there environment.

This seems to me a strange mews. If that should be the psyche then people in poor countries would have noting to do except raping.

ugur, I do not get the logic of what you say. You talk about sex education ans safe sex and then say that they shouldn't marry. If the are going to practice safe sex and not have children yet, then what is the harm of marrying if they are teenagers? They are old enough to fool around but old enough to be serious about fooling around? People can carry on like tat till they are fifty. In fact many times they do, and I think they do precisely because they learnt that as a way of living. Also if they do not get along, they can divorce, and if there are no children, there are no problem either, but at least everybody knows where people stand and it is better than fooling around today one tomorrow somebody else.

On the other hand I have read, that for instance in Saudi Arabia where that kind of punishments are given, the harm is actually mre to the honor than the body, because the thing the stripe with is not really something that causes harm. Bein saudi justice what it is, I wonder whether on that they wouldn't in fact be right. So to those with good knowledge of the matter and might be also in Arabic, could you explain? Thanks

I'm serious. I still haven't been given a verse from the Quran telling me specifically whether it's allowed or not. But I'm open minded so if you have a verse that would even remotely change my mind I'd be more than happy to read it.

It's not really about poverty - it's the so called "ghetto mentality" or "urban culture".
Here in Sweden it's called "fororts kultur" - which states that a person who grows up in a "bad" area in a city is more likely to wined up in a life of crime than a person who grows up in a "good" neighborhood. You might think that's far fetched but I've witnessed it dozen of times.
Every person I know whom has been convicted of a crime grew up in an area with urban culture or fororts kultur. But most people I know who grew up in a suburban area or just a nice place is either working, aspiring to college or is already in college.The solution is simple - EDUCATION

I guess you are right but before people get married is it not better to have a little bit of exprience from before. And i was not saying they should not get married only not at a early age while they still have to go to school, offcourse you will marry later on.

I`m new to this forum.
I have been studying the quran for a while now And i find everything really interesthing and logical but when I came to this verse I really had a problem with it how can a merciful god let us be punished like that. for example if a 16 year old girl has sex before getting married would she get 80 lashes is that not a little bit much . I mean i have seen the movie passion of the christ and those whisp seemed like they really did hurt can you imagine doing that to an 16 yeal old girl or boy. At that moment i thought that it was because of the english translation but I also check it in Arabic translating it word for word with a dictionary but still the same . Is there someone that can help met with this
