According to this document, in 1900 there was 1,5 million that's not so high.
For example, it's said that during the Farewell Pilgrimage of the Prophet there was 114 000 people in Mecca or when Prophet leave Medina for Mecca 90 000 to 120 000 people joined him.
If for example, the population of Medina was 100 000 (+ add 100 000 for other muslim cities of Arabia) in 632 AC then how is it possible that in 1268 years the growth is only x10. While from 1900 to 2009 (in 100 years) there is a growth of x20.
That's prooves that the population of Arabia in 632 was not more than 20 000 or 90 000 people.

There was a population explosion in this world starting about 1850. So a much higher growth rate makes perfect sense to me. Malthus predicted it in the early 1800s. And for proof just google population growth curve. Its an exponential increase.

Well, I don't think so. There is an obvious excess in the figure of population when it comes to early history of Islam. For example, 10 000 men conquered Mecca with the Prophet. Who was able to count at this moment ? There was also no structured army like roman army.
Second example, is the figure of persons who were gathered in Mecca during the Farewell Pilgrimage in Mecca (114 000) or 120 000 at Ghadir Khumm, or 120 000 who came with Prophet from Medina to Mecca during the Farewell Pilgrimage....All these figures are just symbolic (mythical number) only to show off and are a resulte of a later addition (fabrication) !
