Give them the link to the article I referenced in that thread, see what they say then.

They said I am following conjecture.

A person can claim what they like. If they cannot refute by way of evidence/logic/etc then what a person claims is almost irrelevant.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

          Peace,
          Respectfully.

Brother Munzir, i'd also tell anyone and everyone to carefully read and examine chapter four in The Quran, it is fully detailed and it deals with women an wives a lot more then other chapters.

          Peace.

I read layth's article but I still don't understand it well, oh well, maybe I'll understand after I'm a bit older. ;D Some atheists are debating with me about 434 and I can't seem to answer their question. And when I post free-mind's translation the atheists says that it is fake and he knows Arabic.

Well, do you actually believe that 434 allows men to 'beat' their wives when 419 ordains men not to treat them with harshness? I prefer the 'fake' translation because it does not go against other verses

            Salaam.

Well no, but the problem is that we are dealing with athiests and they will say that it is a contradiction and they will say that I am following conjecture. brickwall

Have you provided them with an alternative translation of 434 where the word doesn't mean beat, but separate with them? Well it's kind of ironic that they say we follow conjecture when they themselves do the same thing, refusing to open their eyes to see other possibilities, and only take one that suits their pupose (that is, to attack Islam).

Maybe ask the atheists, if they have actually tried the open their mind and be neutral when reading any scriptures? Not to strengthen their egos by proving the others wrong (so they don't start reading with the intention to find something to criticise), but to gain knowledge and discover the Truth.

                Salaam.

That wouldn't work so I didn't reply back.

It would seem that you admitted defeat (if you didn't reply back after they slammed you basically). My advice if you encounter such circumstance again, provide them with Qur'anic verses and your knowledge to counter their arguments. If they still insist and still blinded with pre-conception, then withdraw from the debate with words of peace ).

                    Salaam.

Oops Sorry. I did actually. DIdn't read your post well. I gave them layth's translation and they said that they know arabic.
