The Muslim Jesus Dead or alive?
Gabriel Said Reynolds
Notre Dame UniversityAbstract
According to most classical Muslim commentators the Quran teaches that Jesus did not die. On the day of the crucifixion another person ? whether his disciple or his betrayer ? was miraculously transformed and assumed the appearance of Jesus. He was taken away, crucified, and killed, while Jesus was assumed body and soul into heaven. Most critical scholars accept that this is indeed the Quran's teaching, even if the Quran states explicitly only that the Jews did not kill Jesus. In the present paper I contend that the Quran rather accepts that Jesus died, and indeed alludes to his role as a witness against his murderers in the apocalypse. The paper begins with an analysis of the Quran's references to the death of Jesus, continues with a description of classical Muslim exegesis of those references, and concludes with a presentation of the Quran's conversation with Jewish and Christian tradition on the matter of Jesus' death.
Peace all,
I am searching this article for free if somebody has it and can send it to me by PM.

He was neither murdered, and nor uplifted to the Skies. He was made to migrate alongwith Muslims to this place of safe abode.

Had you opened the link to read the context, you may not have asked this. Here is first part of the verse

It could be during the birth of Isa.
19.24 . Then ( one ) cried unto her from below her , saying Grieve not! Thy Lord hath placed a rivulet beneath thee
23.50 . And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent , and We gave them refuge on a height , a place of flocks and water springs
and talk about the same idea !
Then, when Mary went to a safe place
19.22 . And she , conceived him , and she withdrew with him to a place .
23.50 . and We gave them refuge on a height
Quran doesn't speak differently of Isa when he was still in his mother's womb, when he was born and when he was an adult. He is the same Isa son of his mother !
In 1922, the use of 'hu' is a clear evidence that in Islam a child in his mother's womb is already somebody alive like me, you or another.

Agree with you on the differences.
But the verse doesn't say if it's after his crucifixion or during his birth or during his lifetime.
Now explain why do you think it's after his crucifixion and not during his birth or his lifetime ?
Title
A Verse about the Refuge of Mariam and Jesus (pbuh) ? Al-Mu?minoon 23 50Question/Comments
I read a little about this particular refuge of Marry & Jesus (PBUH) in a detail written in Quran (Translated by Mulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi) that the reason of this refuge was that "in the childhood of Jesus (PBUH) there was a king HERDOOS who wanted to kill Jesus (pbuh) because a Prediction Monger predicted the SARDARI (Kingship) of Jesus. And with the revelation from God Mary (PBUH) took refuge in the country Eygpt, and came back to SYRIA after the death of that king (Herdoos).
You explained that it was the place where Mariam (pbuh) gave birth to Jesus (pbuh).
How true is the above story in your opinion? Is there any historical evidence of such story?
Thanks
Sarosh
PakistanAnswer
Because the Qur'an has not specified the location or the precise circumstances under which Jesus (pbuh) and Mary were give the referred refuge, therefore, there can be a difference of opinion in determining the location as well as the circumstances of the referred refuge.
The story referred to by the scholar is based on the information given by the Gospel of Matthew, in chapter 2, verse 13.

July 19, 2002Within the Holy Quran there are many verses discussing Jesus, and often Mary also, but these either deal with the Nativity or his Palestinian ministry, or contain no definite geographical and temporal context. A possible exception, however, is Surah 2350, a translation of which reads
And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs.
Since Israel is not noted for having lofty ground with meadows and springs, this verse suggests a different location, and if shelter was needed, it indicates they were traveling. This is an interresting link here about this http//sites.google.com/site/truuthz/flow-diagram-about-the-life-of-jesus-from-a-to-z---100-truth
