What GOD wants us to do
-
GOD wants you to be aware that HE exists, he alone is to be worshipped, and that leading a righteous path will lead to eternal Salvation.
sun sun
This is my understanding.
After pondering for quite a while, I come to a conclusion that what God wants is for us to serve Him, that is done by serving mankind. Remember, God is free from all needs, it is us who needs something. Besides, The Steep Path in 9012-17 is all about your devotion to mankind
Salaam.

Salaam,
you are correct BornAgain, we are created to serve the creation itself, in as far as we are the custodians of the world, and to help, protect and advance our fellow man.
Salaam Munzir Ali,
I do not think the Maldives is an Islamic country in the slightest, it could be classified as a Christianised Muslim enclave of the modern banking system, you can not be born a Muslim, it is a way of life, not a label, you could be born into a community that was based on the correct Islamic model and then you could be Muslim, but none exist, additionally you could never be 'a' Muslim as it is a physical act, not a title to apply to yourself, you could only ever be Muslim.
From reading your comments and opinions, I have no doubt of your Christian leanings, but you are young, if you consider Christianity to be so appealing why do you say you are not Christian?
You believe in a God, so a personification of a male sky God, as the Christians.
You believe in worship and adoration to a sky God, as the Christians.
You believe in blind faith over firm reasoned and evidence based belief, as the Christians.I am not attacking you just wondering why you think you are Muslim, do you live Muslim?
-
I you can not be born a Muslim, it is a way of life, not a label
I stand corrected
You believe in a God, so a personification of a male sky God, as the Christians.
You believe in worship and adoration to a sky God, as the Christians.
You believe in blind faith over firm reasoned and evidence based belief, as the Christians. If I am a Christian, then half the people here are Christian. Do you know what I think? I think you are a hardcore Athiest. >(

Salaam Munzir Ali,
if you thought, you wouldn't be a Christian, yes more than half the people, far more, are Christian by default, only they can not see it, in the case of most they never will, I am not an atheist, as I have no doubt in a single consciousness that manifest all realities, yet I do not believe in a God of any sort, I wish you well in your Christian pursuits.
-
Abdun Nur makes some good points, actually.
Munzir Ali, why does God want something?
How do you know that he wants something?
How did you figure out what that something was?
Those are some questions for you to think about.
My understanding is, I don't know what God is. Or what Allah is. Maybe Abdun Nur can offer some insight into that.
-
I am not christian. I was born muslim in a 100% muslim country. (atleast that's what the government claims.) Do not make false accusations. it will only ruin your name not mine.
my country is called Maldives. Google search it if you like.
I have to say, your country is incredibly beautiful! I had never even heard of it before... Larger population than Iceland, though.
And BTW, it's not explicitly said that God "wants us" to worship him, however, it is explicitly said what the DEVIL wants
The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain?
If the devil wants you NOT to pray or remember God (worship), then it's pretty opposite that God recommends the opposite of what the devil wants, (i.e., for you to worship and remember Him). However, this is not really a desire from God, but He only wants what's best for us, not a NEED from God, for Allah needs NOTHING from us.
However, it's not God's desire for us all to be guided
GOD points out the paths, including the wrong ones. If He willed, He could have guided all of you.

Salaam Afridi,
you have a point to make, or just write non-sense as a pass time, I explain my perspective based on physical evidence, you have no explanation of anything at all, a mind of conjecture and learned confusion, as is evident from your comments.

I just want to show a point Abdun that you're wrong about the does someone bron Muslim ? In fact Yes all the people in the world born Muslims, but according to the parents religion jewish or christians or whatver made the childs devaite from the true instinct which is Islam (the prophet peace be upon him said " " that's mean that we born at the beginning Muslims and our fathers changed it and the environment changed it . as I see that you misunderstood the word Muslim which means in english he who submits to Allah and while we born submiting to Allah, we're Muslims from the birth .
One more thing I see that you have a problem with the word God, as an arabic man I know that Allah is unique word with no plural but that doesn't mean that I can say God as others definning it as Allah, because after all Allah is an arabic word , the important that who said God must know that God is the Creator "again the important is knowing that Allah is the creator whether he said God or Lord .and about what God wants from us is shows that the person who wrote this Thread his knowledge about Islam is a little bit superficial , because God is uneed of anything, but he care if we worship him which makes it a purpose of the existence not what he wants ...so to change the title of the thread is worshiipping God is the purpose of the existence justifying what I say by this Surat from Qur'an " ", which means in english that God or Allah created us for worshipping him "as a purpose of the existence".

Salaam,
You could argue that a new born baby is Muslim as they only eat, defecate and sleep, so just as animals could be construed as Muslim a new born baby would be also, of course as a human being, it is a state of action, a new born baby has little action, so I am not wrong.
Anyone who would believe in a personified God would by default believe in blind worship and adoration to that personification, I do not believe in any God, there is no evidence at all for a personified God, a creation of the religious.
There is a creator, but not one sitting back governing a creation that was built in permanence, as is understood within the personified God universe.
Without any doubt at all the very last thing the creator would require, would be worship and adoration, it would be an insult to the creator and crime against yourself and the community you exist within, I don't expect you to understand that as your mind is filled with religion, but I am not a Christianised Muslim, you exchange thoughtful action for thoughtless worship, what hope is there?

According to some research that the baby knows that there is a creator because they have the ability to know that these things around him can't be designed from nothing, by instinct they knew that there is a designer which is for adults Allah . this instinct according to us "muslims" is the instinct of Islam "the submition to allah" .
I think this website can make you understand some difference between an animal and a baby human. http//www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/3512686/Children-are-born-believers-in-God-academic-claims.html
Anyone who would believe in a personified God would by default believe in blind worship and adoration to that personification, I do not believe in any God, there is no evidence at all for a personified God, a creation of the religious.
I think you have a problem with understand the non-personnification of Allah and the personnification of humankind ? you mixed both of the terms.
when we said Allah sees us and hears us, is that mean that he has the same eyes as we know them or the same ears as we have , No that doesn't mean that and it's not personnification. the situation of seeing and hearing not like the human seeing or hearing because we can't imagine it and it's beyond our minds .the only personnification that we can do is the personnification of inanimate matters "the clouds cry " cry is a personnification of clouds, we gave it as a description one of our adjectives issues is the term crying.Again what I said is not personnification.
There is a creator, but not one sitting back governing a creation that was built in permanence, as is understood within the personified God universe.
Without any doubt at all the very last thing the creator would require, would be worship and adoration, it would be an insult to the creator and crime against yourself and the community you exist within, I don't expect you to understand that as your mind is filled with religion, but I am not a Christianised Muslim, you exchange thoughtful action for thoughtless worship, what hope is there?I really don't understand what do you mean ? I don't know whether you're a Muslim or a christianized Muslim or a christian or an atheist? I've talked to all of them and sorry to say that you're none of them .so here is my question what religion are you believing in ? or who are you literally?.
the sura from Quran is clear and what the prophet peace be upon him did is clear for me as an arabic man, I don't know what ethnicity are you ? but sure you've problem with understand the meanings of the word in arabic. ah one more thing I think I have one question for you "are you a secular?" -

1.The surat should be translated as "God created Djinn and Humankind to SERVE Him" and not WORSHIP.
2. God always got what He wanted, thus all humankind whether they realize it or not DOES serve Him.
3. But.. there are GOOD Servant and BAD Servant and each one of them will get what they deserves.God doesn't requires us to WORSHIP Him, He devised a set of rules which no one can break that EVERYBODY WILL GET WHAT THEY DESERVES.
Or in other words 'YOU'LL REAP WHAT YOU SOW".. "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND" and in the eastern cultures / philosophy this is known as KARMIC LAW.Salam / Peace

the only problem that I can state about the guys here is the understanding of the meanings of the words in arabic, it shows that they don't know the real meanings of a word in arabic .
about what should or shouldn't about the translation is the presence of the meanings, and sorry to say that you're wrong the word worship is the good translation of what came in the verse "aya" .
we say in arabic " " which means in english " this person is a servent " or in other description " this person is a black man" or "this person is a slave" you see that I didn't say that this person is a worshipper; " " which means in english " this person is worshipping Allah"God" " you see here that I can't say that this person is serving allah because it'll be not the right meaning of "" in the sentence .and when God said in Qur'an that he created the Djinn and the humankind for " worshipping" not "serving" because we can't serve by anyway neither in our hand to serve him but if you want to take it as a metaphore that we serve God by worshipping . The only creatures that serve God are the Angels .

I disagree...
The notion of "WORSHIP" within current English context carries obligation of doing a "RITUAL" act.
The notion of "SERVE" within current English context (Arabic root Abd) carries "Performing duty" which still "Within control or power / acting upon the will of those being served / acting as the master".All beings and matters including Dinosaur, Sapiens (human) or Djinns and Aliens (if there's any) SERVE God.. this is a definitive declaration found in the Koran and also based on fact since God is within control of everything, and there are no single event shall happens in non-accordance to His will.
Metaphorically there are many sentences in Koran which says all of the mountain, stars, sky/heaven bowed to God.
He's in control of everything and everything serve Him.
Whether they like it or not or whether they realize it or not.The common problems found in today sectarian communities (e.g. Sunniism, Shiaism, Muhammed Worshiper, Muhammad's companion worshiper, Jesus Worshiper, Race / Nation Worshiper (e.g. Zionism, Pan Arab Nationalism) etc..) is they're focusing on WORSHIPING rather than GOOD ACT, they're focusing more on RITUAL ACT rather than doing GOOD things or GOOD behavior.
But the law said Everyone shall get what they deserves... GOOD or BAD..
I think Jesus said it best "Shabbat are for men not men for shabbat"
On criticizing the too much focus on rites yet forgetting about the good deeds which should be the main focus as performed by prominent Judaism Clerics during his time...
"The tree which doesn't bear good fruit shall be cut down and thrown into the fire"
In today's scientific community this is called "Natural Selection" although it should be called "God's Selection" instead..Salam / Peace

salam alaykom;
first of all, I have to tell you that your signature is an insult to the arabs community, so care to delete it ? or people will take it a racist statement about arabs from you "including me" .second of all, I'm trying to show you that serve is not the right word, because Allah not needs someone for serving him.In addition to this that we can't serve him, instead of that we serve him by worshipping and glorifying him, and in this case it's needless for him "you" worshipping but he cares if you do so. how you can serve God "Allah" ?

I understand entirely. Visualise the universe in this manner; everything is pure vibration and "awareness", waves of potential possibility interact with each other and the resultant wave is the best of those possibilities, chosen in an intricate manner according to the divine proportion. This is the quantum mechanical manner in which the universe operates. We as humans are essentially powerful beings because we can very heavily alter these waves of possibility within the universe. Now it obviously goes to follow that if a certain result is to be obtained, then everything must correspond to a certain tune, the divine melody. This is the essence of "salat" in the quran, your connection to God. Salat is essentially meditation of a certain form whereby you realign your energies with those of what God wishes for you. If you correspond to the divine melody then you resonate with the divine melody and your actions are indistinguishable from those of pure perfection and peace. This is essentially moving in a state of complete flow and sync with time and in every way, your bodily movements and your thoughts. When you attain this flow state, and everyone does every so often, you feel a sensation of dissolving into unity with the universe.
Helping your fellow man out keeps the peace and allows them to make righteous decisions which will then allow other people to then make righteous decisions and the cycle continues. Because of the chaotic nature of this universe your negative energy will get amplified in the sea of chaos and likewise, your positive energy also shall.
However, positive energy of any form is far more powerful than the negative energy because the negative energy results in chaos taking precedence and it is then subject to the standard rules of entropy. However the positive energy contributed results in a certain order being imposed on reality and with time this amplifies itself resulting in negative entropy. In essence, peace results in more peace and everything that produces the shape of a peaceful energy will live on. Yet unpeace results in chaos and all those energies are then destroyed in an entropic manner.

Is the reward of goodness aught but goodness? The rules of the new universe at each instant of time are decided by the unfolding of past events. This is a strikingly interesting facet of reality for many reasons for which I don't have the time to delve into at the moment. Everything I have stated here is somewhat abstract and it is far beyond the realm of human comprehension to be able to see and understand the waves of possibility within the universe fully, the rules of this game we play say that players are not allowed to know the rules until they are ready.
Peace,
Respectfully.I believe that The Exalted God The Most Powerful wants us to obey Him in order to achieve a better life in the next sphere where we will have immortality.
God knows best.Peace.
This is also my belief. There is a quote, from Bill Hicks - "We are one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively" which I believe to be correct in a fundamental and striking manner. As stated earlier, the rules of the new universe at each instant of time are decided by the unfolding of past events, a semi-deterministic universe of sorts. In essence, at the beginning there was pure symmetry, no subjectivity whatsoever and everything was one, all forces were unified. Then the symmetry broke resulting in more symmetries which break, resulting in even more symmetries, etc and during each instant of time, the symmetry breaks again in a certain manner and the universe computes how it should then break symmetry again in order to produce the universe in the next instant in time.

YUSUFALI But indeed men before them rejected (My warning) then how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)?
PICKTHAL And verily those before them denied, then (see) the manner of My wrath (with them)!
SHAKIR And certainly those before them rejected (the truth), then how was My disapproval.067.019
YUSUFALI Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious Truly (Allah) Most Gracious Truly it is He that watches over all things.
PICKTHAL Have they not seen the birds above them spreading out their wings and closing them? Naught upholdeth them save the Beneficent. Lo! He is Seer of all things.
SHAKIR Have they not seen the birds above them expanding (their wings) and contracting (them)? What is it that withholds them save the Beneficent Allah? Surely He sees everything.024.041
YUSUFALI Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do.
PICKTHAL Hast thou not seen that Allah, He it is Whom all who are in the heavens and the earth praise, and the birds in their flight? Of each He knoweth verily the worship and the praise; and Allah is Aware of what they do.
SHAKIR Do you not see that Allah is He Whom do glorify all those who are in the heavens and the earth, and the (very) birds with expanded wings? He knows the prayer of each one and its glorification, and Allah is Cognizant of what they do.I understand the meaning of this verse entirely so. If you actually look at the manner in which birds fly, they flap their wings in resonance to the melody of the universe. Because of all of these years of evolution they have managed to develop their sense of flow, salat, with time. Suppose a bird wants to fly across the road, and a wind is moving down the road. The bird will provide via its wings a change in energy equal and opposite to the wind to within the extent that it can, that is to say as long as the momentum of the wind is not so great that it would simply be more energy efficient to change direction to go with the wind and hope that at some point, it can still get to point B. In this context, the peaceful state is one in which the bird gets from A to B. A sidewards wind is one which disturbs that peace in a certain manner and the brain of the bird then takes in information from the present moment and computes how it should redirect the energy around it to cancel out that disruption of the peace in an exact and correct manner. To say a human is bird brained is quite the complement, most of us nowadays will never achieve that in our lifetime!
In a sober reality it is very difficult to understand these things. Observing this but with a tracer effect allows one to see it in a striking manner. One way in which to observe this would be to film the motion with a high speed camera then overlay the past frames of the video with the present. An alternative and far more spiritually powerful manner in which to see this same thing is to take a hit of acid.

PICKTHAL And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure,

SHAKIR That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure.055.009
SHAKIR And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. In light of the above, now consider this verse!

SHAKIR Most surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day, and the ships that run in the sea with that which profits men, and the water that Allah sends down from the cloud, then gives life with it to the earth after its death and spreads in it all (kinds of) animals, and the changing of the winds and the clouds made subservient between the heaven and the earth, there are signs for a people who understand.
