thats in the situation of war

    2239-40

To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, God is most powerful for their aid;-

(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is God". Did not God check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of God is commemorated in abundant measure. God will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily God is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will).

So if it's not war the monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques can be destroyed? I don't think so...
From this verse we see that even in a war situation this buildings are not allowed to be destroyed so this verse speaks about true tolerance.

      Peace be upon you.

1753 And say to My servants (that) they speak that which is best; surely the Shaitan sows dissensions among them; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man.

I don't think this is a good example of tolerance, killing the people and saving the buildings and only those buildings where God is commemorated in abundant measure?

We may sit on different branches but we are all apart of the same tree.

                  Peace all

I don't want anyone to think that this post is targeted at them. One person has inspired me to start this post but it is something that we all need to think about, not only on this forum but in our own daily lives.

As 'Free-minders', we need to keep an open mind and accept other people's opinions even if we don't agree with them. Not only might they pose a few questions for us to think about but it is also respectful.

So this is just a reminder. But I also want your opinions on this issue. Quranic verses are always welcome.

                  peace

Thank you for the reminder. It's not right nor fair for us to assume that someone's intention is bad without actually being able to read their mind which i doubt anyone in this world can. We should excercise caution but think the best about people and their intentions as that is much better than thinking the worst about people. If you think the best and you get it right, then great. If you think the best and get it wrong then it's ok so long as you were cautious then there will be no harm done.

BUT if you think the worst and you get it wrong, then you've been unfair

2415 For you have cast it with your tongues, and you say with your mouths what you have no knowledge of, and you think it is a minor issue, while with God it was great.
2416 And when you heard it you should have said It was not right for us to speak of this. Glory be to You, this is a great lie.
2417 God warns you not to repeat something similar to this ever, if you are believers.

                  peace

                    Found a relevant verse.

4912 O you who believe, you shall avoid much suspicion, for some suspicion is sinful. And do not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite. Would any of you enjoy eating the flesh of his dead brother? You certainly would hate this. You shall observe God. God is Redeemer, Merciful.
