Slovene & Bosnian Translation of The Quran.
-
Peace,
Respectfully.I've been asking myself this question for a while now.
Do you think it would be wise to translate The Quran from English into Slovene and Bosnian language and not from Arabic?See, my parents are from Bosnia and i'm a first generation born in Slovenia, so i spoke Bosnian at home and Slovene at school and both with friends, simultanously. Thank God. Since the age of 13, i started speaking English and been speaking it ever since, American accent.
Now, considering the fact that we have the correct translation of The Quran in English and the fact that Slovene translation is really not good and Bosnian also not good, i wanted so much to translate from English into those two, since i translate in my mind whatever i watch on TV, we have subtitles. For me, speaking all three languages is like speaking one and the same. And also i've read Slovene and Bosnian translations - really not good translations. Specially 434 and that part in chapter 5 about cutting off the hand, then the brackets and suggestions to look for the hadith, .....
Let me know.

Where is this "correct" English translation?
Moreover.. 434 does say "daraba" with nothing to quantify it, therefor it must be taken literally...

Oh yes, the correct version of the Quran came 1400 years down the line which by chance you are one of the lucky few who has a copy and everyone else who do not possess this magic limited edition are the lost souls. Was it a lottery draw or something?
Anyway, a good starting point will be to learn Arabic in the first instance and decide for yourself how good a translation is.
Peace

PeacePeace,
Respectfully.Good point, i want to start to learn Arabic and everytime i tried, i was just about to be brainwashed. I wasn't allowed too many questions or those questions that would check-mate them.
Besides, i agree, The Quran was revealed in Arabic and it doesn't matter which language you read it, the ones who are guided on the Straight Path, will get the Message.Peace.

How would you know if its a 100% correct translation, if you don't understand the original Arabic version from which it was derived?
The free-minds Quran is pretty good, but not perfect. Look how they translated 5043, for example
5043 We are the Ones who give life and bring death, and to Us is the destiny.
We are the ONES, is an absurd example... When in the reality, the Arabic uses the "We", conjugating twice, which puts an EMPHASIS on it... The correct translation would be "SURELY, IT IS WE who gives life and brings death".
Instead, it is translated to take away from the ONEness of God.... Either that, or it attributes partners to him. Both of which are blasphemous.
