I am here with an open question. Read the following verse,
O tribes of Jinn and humans, if you can penetrate the outer limits of the heavens and the Earth, then go ahead and penetrate. You will not penetrate without authority.
There will be sent against both of you projectiles of fire and copper, and you cannot win. 5533,35
How do you match this with current scientific knowledge, it will take billions of years moving at the speed of light just to get there!!! We will die before getting out of the milky way galaxy!! God won't have to send any projectiles, just sit back and watch us die. But if you look at my avatar, it makes good sense.
Anyone with an opposing opinion.

It says "without authority"... we need to know the laws of the god, that is... laws of physics and then work with them. Projectiles are sent through space... we have to deal with them. Quran 234 states the obedience of matter unto men.

The verse doesn't say this. It states if we try to get out of the heavens and earth without authority, then the projectiles will be sent. The is nothing in the verse that says we have to dodge the projectiles using our knowledge. Authority is God's permission.

this is a challenge from God to Jinn and humans telling them that they can not escape from their own destiny and the will of God only if he gave the authority and he means by authority that some people God can change their destiny according to their deeds like keeping him alive for a long time or save him from an accident that was already predestined to happen but the deeds of the person kept it away. so wether these two creatures travel in the space or travel in time or whatever, they will not change the will of God and they will not escape from their destiny only by authority which we said before it's about destiny.

this verse is independant from the first one but it is attached in the word "escape", here God said if you(the Jinn & humans) could escape from the day of Judgement, Angels and Zabaneya will throw you by "showath" from fire and pour copper from Hell to make you back, so you can not win .

I am sorry but you took the whole verse out of context. It is very simple God is asking the jinn and the humans if you can get out of the heavens and the earth, go ahead. As long as you can. Just try. Without a permission, fire and brimstone will be thrown at you and you will fail to reach your goal.
Remember the verse when the Jinns were going toward heaven to touch it they found projectiles thrown at them. Similar thing here. The Sky is a freakin fortress!!

Hi Madhoshi,
To push this further more. I posed this question to a Christian on youtube. In all the scritpures, it says God created the Heavens and the Earth. This sounds nice before you start to realize that the Earth is INSIDE the heavens. It is one of the heavenly 'hosts'. Why not God created the Heavens and Mars? Why not created Heavens and the Sun? The depressing answer is that the ancients(and I don't blame them) thought that the Earth is the lowermost part of the world so it represents the floor and the heaven is the canopy. The word 'Samaa' in Arabic or 'Shamayim' in hebrew means a lofty place. When will the heavens be ALWAYS higher than the Earth. My avatar. A picture drawn adapting the cosmology in the Book of Enoch which corresponds charmingly with that of the Quran.

100 years ago nobody had a clue about what DNA was let alone thinking "it would be so impossible to map the human genome". Yet here we are.
Good question as to why it says "heavens AND earth" though. In my understanding when the quran states "heavens and earth" it refers to the universe as a whole.
